Despite the topic name (which probably made a mod cry anyways), I'm in some actual need of help. I was given the assignment of a short essay about the holocaust, and I've scoured google but couldn't find something that interested me, except for the crematoriums which I couldn't find much info about. What I'm asking YOU is: What would be a good topic for a 700 or so word essay? I need 3 body paragraphs and I can make a thesis out of the topic on my own.
Honestly I'm just at wits end if google isn't doing it for me (oh wait, it always does that).
What kind of essay. Could it be anything of your choice? A particular interest of mine would be evaluating the intentionalist, structuralist or synthesist views respectively. It's pretty open and you could incorporate pretty much any aspect of the Holocaust into it.
That was exactly my thinnking as well You could also do somthing on the psychology behind the Nazi's who acted it out. The "obediance" of "just following orders" which I find quite interesting but I suppose others may find boring.
alt, if kou know me your childhood dreams and childhood hero's would be splats of gore and flesh on my bedpost
Dreams? What are these. . .dreams? And heroes? They are empty representations of misgiven ideals. . .they deserve to be splats of gore and flesh on the bedpost of a starving artist who isn't really starving. ------- WWII history rules. ------- The Angel of death was a Nazi scientist at Auschwitz who would do inhumane experiments on inmates to learn stuff. He would sew a sick and a healthy man together to see if the healthy man's immune system would fight of the sick man's illness. Stuff like that. There's a thread about it too.
I don;t really think Mengele would be a particularly suitable subject to write an essay on. What is there to evaluate or analyse? You could just save some time and say 'Mengele=total psychopath megalomaniac'.
A history of his experiments, motivations, etc. not just a psychological profile.
Still it would seem pretty difficult to get 700 words of decent qualuty in there. Plus that's not looking at the big picture, focusing in on one single doctor's actions. Looking at the macro side of the Holocaust lets you get into real in depth analysis. Mengele is just a figurehead. Much like Rasputin. There's a lot of hype about it, but in the big picture, his real net contribution was negligible.
Or, he could do the essay about experimentation as a whole, and just mention Mengele. There was an essay-worthy amount of experimentation during thew Holocaust beside what Mengele did.
That's the type of assignment you'd get for a science lesson, not a history based one. In short I think my idea's better and am not willing to concede because I think I'm right and you're wrong
U'm not debating that per se, just saying that there was a lot of experimentation on people in the Holocaust, which had historical impact. Yours would also be a good thing to write about
