Ok, I think these are fricken amazing. Flying without radar detection, and silently. Then out of nowhere bombs absolutly destroy a place. This might sound bad, but I would fly on right over Mecca, and bomb the hell out of that city.
Anyone agree? (about the plane not the Mecca thing)
the problem with stealth plains is that theyaren't perfectly invisible. So, for example, if you had millions of transmitters all over the country you could monitor them and pick up on any abnormalities. Mobile phones work very well for example. The B2 is a nice plane though I think the SR-71 is better (mainly just on looks though I'm not sure how they would compare at Top Trumps).
The B2 is an amazing fighter. long fuel range makes for safer distances between allies and the enemy. My step-dad worked on them for a while. I can't say exactly what he did though... I don't even know. The B2 is still VERY top-secret.

they are very nice indeed.

not that top secret... they're on popular science issue 226.
I've never really been a fan of bombers. They worked well in older conflicts like WW2, but today maned bombers aren't worth that much in terms of conflict, unless there's another war in which the enemy has large concentrations of troops. Its a pretty nice piece of technology, but we're going down the wrong area in terms of where technology needs to be advanced. Modern warfare seems like its going to me more about small amounts of highly trained troops, or insurgents like in Iraq and Afghanistan, both of which would risk high civilian casualties if you just went in and bombed them with something like this. It should be more about small-arms, maybe detection equipment and drones.

For the most part I agree with Mike412. Although there have been many technological advancements, especially in the field of non-kinetic weaponry, that could change the role of the bomber drastically and give it a new lease of life. The nexy really big development will be unmanned aircraft. Many believe this generation will be the last human fighter pilots.

from what i understand the whole point is to reduce the radar cross section of a plane to that of something like a bird if you wanted to track stealth planes you'd also have to track pretty much every bird along with them

the SR-71 blackbird was for reconnaissance only it wasn't a bomber so you can't really compare them although i agree the blackbird looked pretty sweet
B2s are awesome, but does anyone know the pricetag for one? There is a reason we don't have anymore than 15 I think? Well it's a 2.2 billion dollar peice of equipment. We've only ever lost one though, and that was because of moisture condensation on the things supercomputer.
Bomb Mecca? Thats a radical thing to say. Why destroy something important to a religion? Then again it realy isn't a religion, it's more of a lifestyle.

You claim TSL3 is insensitive and then accuse Islam of being more of a lifestyle than a religion. Hoist by your own petard.
