If this is not appropriate for Popular Media please close, and inform me which place I should post this topic. I'm looking for some new and good authors so HAVE AT IT!

"Consider Phlebas" by Iain M. Banks who also happens to be one of my favorite authors.

"20,000 Leagues Under the Sea" Jules Verne, an oldy but a goody, and Jules Verne is freaking amazing.

"The Pickwick Papers" Freaking CHARLES DICKENS!!!! We share the same birthday...except his was 177 years before mine, and that actually has nothing to do with why I love this book, or why he is one of my favorite authors...okay maybe it does .

The Divine Comedy is my favorite book. Dante is a master at terse, poetic characterization. Another one of my faves is Candide, the funniest, wittiest book ever.

As for authors, my favorite poet is Robert Frost. I know, I'm just a sentimental guy.

I don't really have a favorite book, I can never decide what's the best. My favorite author though is John Christopher. He wrote the Tripod trilogy, and the Sword of Spirits trilogy, both fantastic trilogies.

Tripod trilogy was awesome, but I wasn't really old enough to truly comprehend it and now i can't fin any copies of it... But since I'm a die hard magic/fantasy fan I fell in love with Harry Potter, Artemis Fowl and The Barteimius Trilogy. They were all awesome series which kicked ass, recently I read a series called the Vampirates which was actually pretty good as for my favorite author, i can't decide.

Now that I think about it, The Watsons go the Birmingham-1963 by Christopher Curtis.

and now i can't fin any copies of it

Ever tried the local library? I found it in my school library, but my school has been around for about 40 years.

I also forgot the mention that my other 2 favorite authors are Christopher Curtis and Kathrine Lasky.
Christopher Curtis wrote very good books. They were hilarious, and always had a moral to the story.

Kathrine Lasky wrote the Guardians of Ga'Hoole series, which I'm currently reading. Very good books.

I don't see how this couldn't be in Popular Media.

I like the Harry Potter series, Artemis Fowl series, Warriors series, A Series of Unfortunate Events, and many others. My favorite author is probably either Eoin Colfer or J.K. Rowling. JKR just has a magnificent series, while Colfer is apparently intelligent with a lot of wisecracking humor in his books.

I'm one of the people obsessed with vampires so I suggest the House of Night series by P.C. Cast and Kristen Cast. They're full of suspense, love, and action. They've got everything you could want.

Right now I'm currently reading The Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare and the Young Wizards series by Diane Duane.

In my English class we're currently reading Much Ado About Nothing. We've read The Kite Runner and Night also. All good books.

My favorite book series so far would have to be the Sword of Truth series by Terry Goodking. Based in a world of magic, the story starts of with a ruler who wants one thing: power. The land is separated by three magical boundaries, the westernmost boundary is home to a man named Richard who is entrusted with the secrets of a magical book. And on one particular day Richard is swept up into a world of danger, happiness, and misery.

I really suggest this series to anyone who likes a good read, it will sweep you up into it just like Richard is swept up into a new world. The first one in the series is Wizards First Rule.

Indeed Artemis Fowl is good. Roald Dahl is a great author don;t just go childish and pass it by he has some great books and characters. Douglas Adams as well is very cool; obvioulsy Hitchikers guide but also "The Meaning of liff" is recomended.
