I stand by my opinion that he was a genius. Not necessarily by IQ standards, but a genius in his ability to manipulate and control people-he was one of the most charismatic people of the 20th century, he was articulate, etc. IQ isn't a valid way to measure intelligence, as recent studies have found that there are multiple types of IQ and IQ is just used to measure your ability to learn. But he was a vile human being, possibly one of the worst people ever, and had all of the views that lead to death and war. A disgusting person, if anything. The world would have been so indescribably better without him. . . .

Charismatic might be the term of choice, and of course genius is dependent on your definition of it. I take genius to be a person who contributes something great to mankind, for the progress of humanity. It does not take an intelligent person to come up with a great idea. And as to hitler being charismatic, germany was is very poor economic times, they were looking for a way out, and hitler appeared to have the answer. Under poor conditions a man who knows how to use and manipulate human emotions and speech can do many a things.

In my opinion, Hitler was not a great man. A man is a compilation of his actions and beliefs. Hitlers' ideas were horrific, and his actions made it very vivid.

I personally can't believe anyone would call him a "good" person. It is one thing to be interestred in the history and stuff, but look at the awful things he did and is responsible for. Anyone who thinks he is good should go to the holocaust memorial museum. I have been and it was an extremely powerful thing. My answer is NO, he was an awful, evil, and dispicable human being.

Charisma does not equal genius.

Wiki definition:

A genius is an individual who successfully applies a previously unknown technique in the production of a work of art, science, or calculation, or who masters and personalizes a known technique. A genius typically possesses great intelligence or remarkable abilities in a specific subject, or shows an exceptional natural capacity of intellect and/or ability, especially in the production of creative and original work, something that has never been seen or evaluated previously.

He was not the first charismatic leader to have existed. He was not the first anti semite to have existed. Germany was very unstable after WW2. The fact that he got into power proves nothing. The fact that he remained in power was testament to the psyche of the German people to obey orders, as well as other factors like fear.

Genius is also the product of "talent"

anyway

The fact that he got into power proves nothing

That is true, because Germany at that time was very unstable.

Bingo.
------
Once again, probably 99.9% of people will think Hitler is a bad person- probably everyone on Ag.

It also proves that he was not that great at applying organized violence- the Beer Hall Putsch was a bit of a failure.

I'm not saying he was a good person, but he did help Germany out a little bit. There country and population grew quite a bit even after he was a leader I beleive. But that realy doesn't matter considering all the other things he did. We all know what they were so I am not even going to waste time saying them. The killings he did back then have more effect today still then I think the population and land mass growth. Germans today are ashamed of what happened. Simmilar to slavery in our country.

Hitler from a point of vew did his duties to lead, so I wouldn't say he was a bad leader. Whether or not yu agree with his policies is a different story.

I've heard that Hitler was a very kind person in private, even after a jaw-dropping speach of his about how the failed economy is all the fault of the Jews. So he seems to have these two emotional sides.
