I have consoles older than some of the users of this site and they still work as if they're new.

my PlayStation 3's disc drive decides to conk out. my Wii's disc drive sounds like a jet engine. I've gone through about 2 or 3 Xbox 360s and even when they're "fine" they still play, sound and look like they're on life support.

being fair, I do take pretty damn good care of my consoles and allow each console to breath by keep the room they are kept in cool. I regularly make sure they aren't too dusty.

they're like modern day footballers. giant pussies who cry when they fall down.

I want a manly console that can take a brick to the chassis and still play a game at full power with no framerate issues.

Well the most obvious problem is complexity... I think its fair for me to assume that the newest consoles have far more going on and because of that, far more that can screw up.

And on a similar note, I had to break out a freaking CROWBAR to open up a broken original Xbox (It had one of my favorite games stuck in it... And nothing can't be fixed with a crowbar! [Seriously, it worked!]).

So yeah... mechanics aside, they used to be built like tanks.

Buy a PC,why to pay a huge amount money on PS3 with 80GB,when with that money you can buy a PC with 500GB.

THANK YOU.... at least I have ONE supporter....

You can get a graphics card equal to a PS3's for 60 bucks! C'mon people....

So you can't get all games on the PC.. but you can get most of the good ones. The games on
the 360 you can pretty much buy on the PC at a later date. FableII PC is scheduled in a few
months, if memory serves.

The fact is, don't keep buying consoles over and over again. The PC is technically a lifetime
buy, save for the updating of hardware that costs less than that of a console. Is the answer
so hard for us?

That's because people nowadays like "smexy" consoles. You know why I like the older model
consoles? Because the newer models are defective, easy to break.

lol get a 2 TB harddrive

But yes PC is the best deal, especially if you get a Nice one, like the dell H2C or build your own (cheaper and much much better) you can download emulators and play the PS3 on your computer.

my guess would be is becuase of all the new handheld gaming systems and new touch screen phones.

and that more american citizens are becoming more active and just don't have the time to stay home and play on the consoles any more.

I would say that companies probably do it to make more money. I heard somewhere that they are making TV's so that after a certain number of years they die. Then you have to buy a new one, and will probably buy the same brand again as long as it has a reasonable life.

I'm with Shin. PC's are the best gaming machines. Everyone should know that PC's are much more powerful than consoles at the moment. My only complaint though is the cost of PC's and the fact that some games are not available for PC's. Other than that I am fine.

Cheaper is good.

Emulators for PS3 = Do not exist for the PC.

PS2 emulation is still being perfected. Xbox emulation is not really good.

PS3 emulation is far off.

They do. And it is also true that newer, more complicated technology has the potential for more flaws.

Yes, though you'd have to completely replace your old PC after 5-10 years.

I can't play games released these days with a PC made a decade ago.

I love how people bring hard drives into the equation. All you have to do to save money is by say a 500 gig hard drive and the cheapest version of the ps3 and swap out the hard drive, they're all the same the only difference is the space..
