I've been working towards getting legend for the past few days and have been stuck on hydra now. I've been using a speed build but now seems useless on hydra as after using toxicant>shadow blend>agile exposure>withdrawal, it's only doing 1200ish damage to the fire claws and it's just not sustainable enough with Veradux's healing to keep doing that and kill them.

Any suggestions for another build or strategy to try would be much appreciated. (level 17, 21 ability points and 76 stat points available)

I did it using a "defensive" Bio Build. Base your strategy on Break and Crystallize maxed out, and dump every point into Vitality. Max out Integrity and Reform as well. Sonny is essentially un-killable. Set Roald to relentless and Veradux to Defensive/Phalanx. Keep one of the fireclaws stunned at all times. It's about being patient, and making sure Roald stays standing. (Veradux will probably die, that's ok.)

Good luck mate!

If your not trying for the pacifist achievement, then just put one or two infect's on your move bar. The claws are weak to the poison. Then just use your withdrawl combo to kill the hydra iself

Thanks guys. I ended up beating it with fear_the_ibex's strategy but now I'm stuck on the battle in zone 5 with (if I remember correctly) two riot police and an android guard or something like that.

Ok, I finally got legend. I'm going for the Over the Ashes achievement on Kongregate. Now that I'm done zone 5 and have legend, am I allowed to train?

Yes, you can train now, I would advise getting level 30 before trying to defeat the bomb under 40 turns (that way you do 33k per cycle, just barely beating it under 40)

Envenom is actually mpre effective. If you have the $, then re spec your abilities, fully upgrade envenom, and the claws will go down shortly, which makes it a much easier job. I did the level when I was lvl 22. You should also take into account what equipment your team mates are fashioning. I ensured mine were pretty well kitted out.

You guys are great! Thanks for the advice so far.
I can't believe I thought the hydra was hard - the guardians are ridiculous. I've been trying to use the withdrawal combo on one while the other is crystallized and then withdrawal on the other but that hasn't worked. Any more tips?

Managed to beat it by keeping withdrawal comboing one, crystallizing it, withdrawal combo and kill the other while keeping other crystallized and then withdrawal combo on first one.
Finally got the stupid achievement.
