Should there be a single thread in the community where people can post merits, instead of posting them in the comment sections of the games. That way, moderators wouldn't have to go digging through all a games comments to find good merits. We would also know that any merit-attempt we posted to the thread was being read. If we didn't get a merit, we would know it was because our merit-attempt wasn't good enough, as oppose to wondering if any moderator ever saw it at all, which is what happens now.

i think merit will show up without notice, if ur comment good, it will be like small nuke, u can't see it, but u can feel it.

i hope there is no dedicated merit section, it's like we chase somethin empty

Yeah, but there are hundreds if not thousands of comments posted on a game everyday, and we're expecting moderators to go through and read all of them? I've posted several comments I think are merit-worthy, but I never know if I didn't get a merit because my review wasn't good enough or because no one saw it.

it's depends on mods

i don't have any merit (u can ask firetail how to get one)
merit-worthy? hard to answers this, it will happens naturally good for the majority of AG users. I think Mods have their own standards to give a merit, special and hard to get hehehe.

There was a thread like this in the Tavern a month back. Apparently no one who posted there got their merits. Mods don't like them being shoved in their faces.

Yes the mods don't find every merit-worthy comment, but it gives one motivation to write more. Which is a good thing, instead of having many one liner comments. The Golden Rule is that if you want a merit, don't ask for it. It highly reduces your chances.

Or you can read this

This will also help.

- I think reviews and simple comments should be seperated instead of making a thread for merits.

- Reviews could be made easier to see by the use of a filter.

- There should also be a minimum and maximum character limit.

Most of the time, mods go through the newest games to check for good comments. *Hint Hint!*

newest games

Not neccesarily. Games of personal interest, general interest and newly released games which are bound to be popular (such as sequels to popular games) are likely destinations for the mods to go to.

Just having one column in the comments for refviews and one for regular comments would work nicely.

that would be not fair to some people who dont know about this thread.

yeah, its incredibly hard to gain merits, and you'd have too be pretty lucky to have one.

i try my best to write the best critique on any game creator but still no merits, and im starting to give up writing good critiques...anyways, just saying...im not asking for merits or anything..

(rule 1 of getting merits, never tell the moderators about your 'good' critique)

Can someone define what makes somebody a great person?

I like the idea. I have posted 3 comments that I thought would be merits but never got them. So hopefully this happens.

I'm sorry but guys the idea of merit worthy comments is that the ones that are awarded merits were helpful to the creator of the game in improving upon what they created. It would ruin the point of them unless you post them in the comments of the game as well, because the creator of the game should not be expected to look through tons of other game reviews in a thread to see comments for their games. I'm sorry but it just wouldn't work. Also just because you think a comment is merit worthy, does not mean that the mods do as well. There is more to it then just making the comment long and punctuated. I mean I found it quite easy to get merits. I remember I got maybe 10 in one week before I stopped making detailed comments on games. You just need to know what they are really looking for. If you read the merit standards(which a link to it has already been supplied on the first page) then you should know what that is. If you know that your comment has met all of these standards, then it may be just a matter of being patient, which is obviously the issue here. I remember I once got a merit maybe two weeks-a month after I had written a review. The earliest I have ever gotten a review though was probably the next day. These things admittedly are going to take time, but to tell you the truth, if they had a thread for reviews, then it would probably take about as much time, since they would have to look at which game you are making a review for, and then look at your review to see if it was good for that game, then they would have to send a message to each person on that thread that has merit worthy comments, because they have yet to implement giving merits for forum posts. On top of that there would be possibly be so many long posts, that none of them may really stand out. So you see while this may sound nice, when you break it down...well it just won't work in my opinion.

Don't give up, you're bound to get one, one fine day! just keep writing, your efforts won't be wasted. And it helps the site with the constructive comments.

I like how it is right now. The users decide what a comment is merit worthy really. I mean we are the ones that vote a comment up, and if it wasn't for that the moderators would never see that comment. If we had a whole thread for merits I think that there would be way too many people trying to get one and then they wouldn't be of as good quality.
