I used to be a furry, and I still am to some extent. A furr is basically someone who draws/roleplays with/dresses as anthropomorphic animals.

Just don't go to any furry forums... Err...

In before drama!

lol, just kidding. So you're interested to know whether there are any users here who are furry or involved with anthro etc. somehow?

The short answer is:

http://i438.photobucket.com/albums/qq105/strawpony/ttly.png

The longer answer is that to preempt some of your possible questions, AG is relatively unusual in that it seems to be a furry-neutral community. It's just not an issue. Given that at least two of the moderators are in some way linked to furry, it will most likely stay this way, too.

ROFTLMAO, I love your picture Strop. It is hilarious. But anyway, I don't really know what you want you to talk about.

Furries. He wanted to know if there is any furs on this forum.
A furry/fur/anthro/Anthropomorph is an animal with human attributes (example: Strop. Horse with a human frame, but still looking like a horse to some point).

Other good examples would be Mickey Mouse, or even Simba (speech and human ways of behaving), or even your cat/dog at home, when you are sure it understands you fully.

For more information, go to wikipedia or Furaffinity.net.

And Pazx likes to be an anthro cat. Which is strange. Wait...it's just unsane.

Since we're naming names, the other mod whom this would be particularly relevant to is (obviously) Zophia.

And while we're discussing this:

Much (possibly unnecessary) controversy has arisen over calling such cartoon figures "furry" because some would contend that furry more accurately describes the subculture as opposed to what would be simply known as anthropomorphism. More controversy (mainly generated by semantic quibblers) has arisen over what to consider Simba as opposed to Mickey Mouse. As for established cartoon characters not created from within the fandom, I personally stay the hell away from calling them "furry" per se. "Funny animals" was an old favorite.

Wow. You can totally not tell that I used to be involved in the fandom.

Anthropomorphic. Not furry. Anthropomorphic.

While we are there: Remember all the talking and walking items in Beauty and the Beast? Anthropomorphic.... Just to get myself right:
Furry/Fur: Common term to describe people who are in the fur-fandom, such as fur dressers and the like.
Anthro: Usually to describe an animal with human attributes. This is commonly described as walking upright, talking, being... civilised. Wearing clothes as well as shoes (though not necessary). On the borderline is werewolves. Not to be confused with animalised humans (which werewolves actually is).
Anthropomorphic: Human like. Can be describing nature, items and animals.

Hehe, ordinarily this would be the cue for a massive discussion on therianthropy but you know what? This isn't a furry board.

So I'll spare you the details.

You know, Strop, I really don't think a plunger is the best tool for what you're trying to do there.

Since we're naming names, the other mod whom this would be particularly relevant to is (obviously) Zophia.
*deep entry-bow something*

Though some groups of furries would argue that the branch of furry that I'm in isn't real furries. Since my fursona isn't based on a real animal, but on a "fantastic" species (from fantasy ... fantastic).

What being a furry actually means is really seriously up for discussion, and the only truth I've been able to realize is that there is several different definitions.

I have a friend within the furry culture who, when asked what furries are, replied that it's people who wish to be a specific kind of animal and will do several things to pretend they are...
Some furries are like that, but it's a bad and limited explanation. Personally I just like the visual appeal of animal features, and I find it a lot easier to draw anthros rather than humans.

The degrees of anthropomorphism are also interesting to discuss with artists. Some like to just stuff on a tail, a couple of ears and a snout on their drawing of an otherwise human character and call it a furry (I really wouldn't call that a furry...), and in the other end of the spectrum people have animal characters with a human mindset, maybe the ability to speak and use their paws as hands...

I have no idea why I just wrote all that.

Anyways, I should totally throw a link to my FurAffinity account.

Yes, there's a few furries here. Strop has accused me on several occasions that I may be a furry but all I find to be particularly interesting/cool are the collars. Collars can be kinda cool~ Something to tug at. Sadly I'd probably get a magnetic one out of fear from hanging myself on purpose and calling it an accident.

Besides that, anyways, there's several furry artists here. ....'nuff said. Also, strop is the most masochistic furry horse I've known since I was just a little tiny munchkin baby singing on how to walk on the yellow brick road. It's too bad I killed the lion.... what? B*st*rd stole my chickens.

FurAff is only bad if you see the normally censored stuff. :3 Which, I might add, fills up a decent amount of my own gallery...

How many furry horses have you actually met since then?

For the record, the posting content of fchan and AG is generally mutually exclusive :P

Also for the record, I don't care whether people call me furry or not. I just draw what I draw, and I view my characters as cartoons without any relation to any specific "furry agenda".
