What do you think? -- Personally, I'm mixed. Some school food is yummy (they have good gravy at mah school) but other dishes. . .I'm not sure exactly what I'm about to eat.
Umm...it's really not that bad. One of my friends and I were talking about it the other day, and most the food is actually pretty good. Sure there's a few meals that aren't the best, but it's not like "mystery meat day", it's like some tuna pita pouch thing. It's food, just not the best in my opinion. At least that's how it is in my school, maybe they still have the mystery meat in others.
I'm not even sure the cheeseburgers in my school are made of meat from a domesticated animal. . . . -- My school still has some good meals though- the pizza, country fried steak, teriyaki chicken, chicken legs, rib sandwiches, BBQ chicken, and spicy chicken sandwiches are awesome.
My school just has a tuck shop with heavily overpriced stuff you can buy from any shop. Most of it is microwave pizza or lasagna, but I'm not complaining, I have connections inside the booth...
It is different and different schools! At my old old school, it was awful. I shudder just thinking about it. They had this one supposedly "grilled cheese sandwich" that was two inch think soggy slices of wonderbread with a slice of fake tasting cheese. Nobody ever ate it. It was dubbed "The Soggy Sandwich."
Well It is really good only if you goto a private school (we pay almost 8 bucks every lunch (included in tuition we can also get 3rds 4ths and 5ths ect.)) Almost everything is organic now, we have even removed the soda fountains and replaced them with water, and gatorade fountains (like the vender's in McDonald's and stuff)
Schools and the military actually get dibs on all the best food that gets produced. So most of the ingredients they use in school is first rate stuff, whether or not it tastes good is a testament to the culinary skills of your school's kitchen. I for one liked most of the lunches that they served in my school district.

That is false! if you have seen Morgan's Supersize me video you would know that they did an investigative report on this and most PUBLIC school actually serve crap, literally. Only PRIVATE schools and Military get the best food. MAinly because Private school parents pay money so they care about their children more because of the extra expense, so Private schools will order better food.
I have seen through four schools so far. Each one was worse than the last, and I think I'll focus on the current food. Terrible. I remember eating the "New York Style Pizza" on my first day this year. Vomit, no joke. >.< It tasted like some sort of melted cardboard fried in grease..a few days later I considered the idea that I got a bad one, and I tried it again. I did not puke this time, but it was just as bad. Never eaten cafeteria food all year since.
The school food I have eaten is rather nice. I have been able to go to a restaurant near my school during lunch. Also, there is a McDonald's branch somewhere in my school. That is because the school is a university which is a K-16 school.
So, really the school food that I have eaten is legitimate sustenance. Not gelatinous synthetic crap.
My school has bad food. The only time we get good food is around Thanksgiving, and we get turkey slices, mashed potatoes and a piece of bread. Other than that, soemtimes they give us chicken sandwiches. Especially the burgers are REALLY BAD.
At my school, they have home-cooking type food a lot- country fried steak /w mashed potatoes and gravy, chicken legs, chicken and noodle soup, etc. though there is also teriyaki chicken and rice, corndog nuggets, ravioli, pasta /w garlic bread, etc. The cheeseburgers are absolutely disgusting, but the rest is pretty good.
