I don't know about anyone else but I like to know where the average person stands on certain matters and how I compare to him/her. So I made this thread for people to post whatever facts they know about the average person and discussion on said facts.
Some thing to note, average person stats can vary around the world so if you know where the facts pertain to please include that as well.
To start off, the last time I checked over the course of the average person's lifetime they will consume 6 spiders in their sleep. I'm thinking that's 6 spiders more than I ever want to eat. >.>
I myself speak a lot more than a 1000 words per day and the girl would have to be speaking every second if they are to speak so much
Not really, this thought had me wondering so I did some calculations.
Since the time it takes to say a given word really only depends on the number of syllables in the word and the speed of the person speaking then we can make some assumptions for the sake of these calculations.
First lets assume the average number of syllables used per word in every day speech is 3. (Actually that's probably kind of high but we'll go with it)
Second lets assume the average time it takes to say a three syllable word is 0.7 seconds (again probably high but I want to compensate for people with slow speech)
So the time it takes to say 7000 words under these assumptions is:
(7000)(0.7) = 4900 seconds
Which works out to be only about 1 hour 21 minutes and 40 seconds per day, and that is only true if the woman in question has a rather extensive vocabulary so she can average 3 syllables per word in normal speech, and if she talks pretty slowly.
Most women I've met talk at least that much time, talk pretty fast and probably average about 2 syllables per word. So I'd have to say a 7000 word a day average is low if anything.
My friend told me every month we eat about 2 spiders in our sleep.. Im not sure if its 2 months.. but i remember her saying something about 2 spiders that we eat during our sleep.

I think its says something about the human mind and factoids etc. that people can state it was a lie and show it was made up (and just to be specific here by Lisa Holst in 1993 for the magazine "PC Professional"
This average statistic makes me laugh:
"The average duration of sexual intercourse for humans is 2 minutes"
A survey by Durex showed that the average Briton likes 22.5 minutes of foreplay. Mens' Health magazine did a survey that showed the total sexual experience (incuding foreplay) lasts on average 18.64 minutes. Therefore the average British sexual encounter lasts minus 3.86 minutes. slightly less that the "fact" suggests.
