Well, the ones that you listed aren't really spinoffs considering they are all made by the same company. A spinoff would be something like rockband or any of the flash games out there.
I personally think that there aren't too many Guitar Hero "spinoffs" as you are calling them, I think the makers of guitar hero are just continuing the series.
I think the industry is just trying to milk its cow until its absolutely dry. And why not? If its working for them, let them make some money. Its true, some are lame, but youll have that. Its hard to continue on such a great idea.
I think those games with only songs from one band are so ridiciulous... But in my opinion, as a Wii owner and player, I think there are not enough games came out, yet. :>

Yeah. I'm not a fan of Metallica and i doubt metallica fans like ALL of metallica's songs. I like Aerosmith. But when I got GH Aerosmith i found that there were only like 5 songs on there that I liked.
They should make more like World Tour. There was a wide variety of songs on that game.
I think there are way too many spin off's. That and I somewhat resent the series because I play the bass guitar. I know it's not as widely popular but it still takes just as much to learn and master the insturment as electric guitar. Now people play this game and they think they know what it takes to play a real guitar.
They're not really spinoffs, they're sequels in the same franchise. A spinoff is a copycat with the same gameplay or something along those lines. As for my opinion, there is to little sequels. I've only played a few, but with Metallica, they're finally dedicating a game to peoples tastes for heavier stuff. They had metal dotted throughout the series, but nothing really dedicated.
