I am so surprised this thread hasn't been made yet... Well I watched Eurovision yesterday and I was amazed that we (the UK) came fifth!
For those of you who do not know what the Eurovision Song Contest is... well...
Eurovision song contest. A European song contest for all the countries in Europe. Usually known as the time of year when all the most crappy songs drag themselves out of the dungeon and gets a lot of sparkles (like certain vampires in sunlight* > > and ruin the ears of those who listens. Also known for the political voting, which means that you cannot really trust it is the best song winning.
Quote courtesy of Cenere, who is rather miffed that Denmark came in 13th place.
SO discuss here. What songs did you like? Who should have won? What entries did you like over the previous years?
My favourites this year were: Country: Greece Artist: Sakis Rouvas Song: This Is Our Night
Actually, I have put the list from first place to last place. The 01 Lithuania just means it was the first song to play. Actually it was placed 23, and had only 23 points.
1) Finland...first place by far...we had a better choice Passion works...but for some reason that s*** made it there...like who would vote for a band that was "op" in the early 90's?
2) Ukraine...I thought that the "hous" were kinda out already
3) Denmark..Horrible Ronan Keating wannabe with a song that sounded like Ronan Keating cover..(+ he obviously had too small jeans)
4) Spain...just weird...
5) Greece...like he just tried to get more points from women by opening his shirt a bit more all the time...looked quite silly :P
My biggest disappointment was the distinct lack of Terry Wogan's commentary, without which, half the hilarity is gone.
QFT Norton was very bad 2 votes left we have a 40 point lead over 6th place and he says "I wonder of we can stay in the top 5" Yes the most Estonia can get is 24 points so we can keep 5th its impossible for us not too.
About the commentary...We had to switch the comments into Swedish (Finland has 2 official languages...so it is possible to have Swed commenting) because the Finnish ones just talked and talked and talked...so you could not hear the speeches between the shows or the musics on the shows and part of the participating songs were also left under the comments by the Finnish commentators(or what they might be called)
