well people though hitler was good early on. however, i think now germans look at hitler in great disgust, thinking of him as scarring their countries dignity and bringing about ultimate shame. as an officer it depends on how i would feel about hitler. some wanted to kill him, some didn't. i say it would depend because maybe i would have been an officer loyal to hitler, or maybe i would have been an officer like the ones in the movie valkyrie.

I think that he started off as a bit of a visionary, and he was definitely a smart person, but also deranged. He managed to kill millions of people, and he got what he wanted for the most part. Sure, he didn't get world domination like he wanted, but he didn't do too bad. Took over most of Europe. Definitely deranged though once he started rising in power.

Do you think killing 8 million people because of their religeon isn't deranged?

He was a visionary, it is just that his vision for a world without jews makes me disgusted.

There's a lot to be said for being so effectively brainwashed that a deranged man can pass as a visionary.

Then say it :P

If I had any of the open-mindedness I have now then I'd probably be one of the soldiers mentioned by Valkyrie who wanted to kill Hitler.

Or I would have been one of the Germans who tried to flee the country. It didn't take a whole lot of foresight to see what was coming down the road.

He was a deranged visionary. Of course, he was the worst kind of visionary- he looked forward into an evil future.

Hitler capitalized on the demoralization of the German people after having to pay for WWI...right place, right time.

I would see Hitler as a visionary for his great ideas for germany and how much of a great speaker he was, I do not believe he was always bad.
Power does change people, he realised he could do what he wanted to with this power, so he declared war and slaughtered 6 million jewish people. To say I would stand against him after folowing him from the start would be a lie, I would have gone with the 'crowd' so to speak, conformity is a very powerful thing.

Since I have recently being doing indepth research and watched a three hour documentary on his rise to power, I feel the need to post.

Hitler was poor and homeless-living off an inheritance. i think at one part, when he was homeless, another person blamed the Jews for it, this could have been the point which spurred Hitler to hate the Jews so much. He gave one talk in a public area to a small group of people and he really put his thoughts to the public. He became a great speaker and he kept talking to bigger and bigger audiences. He suddenly went from a homeless person to a man with the ears of hundreds of people.

Hitler saw great things with the power in which he could do what he wanted if he played his cards right. He wanted a bigger, better, &quoture" Germany. He was a visionary, but he was also deranged to in his want for power.
