Oh no, don't bring me back there!! I almost lost my soul trying to escape!! X(
Their comics are so funny (and kinda geeky) that I lost myself browsing there. So yeah, evil website right there. I wouldn't go there, but if you must, look at the comics, not the forums, because it's pretty dead in there.
Please don't remind people of that rule when all they wanna do is talk about a comic...
Yeah, pretty much what fst said. So this comment is basically spam, but I don't care.
Guess what happened to your post.
5. RULES OF CONDUCT Your use of the Site is subject to all applicable local, state, national laws and regulations and, in some cases, international treaties. You are solely responsible for all activities, acts and omissions that occur in, from, through or under your user name or password. You shall not use, allow, or enable others to use the Site, or knowingly condone use of this Site by others, in any manner that is, attempts to, or is likely to: [...] * be used for commercial or business purposes, including, without limitation, advertising, marketing or offering goods or services, whether or not for financial or any other form of compensation or through linking with any other website or web pages;
The kind of advertising that goes against this rule is, as far as I know, the advertising of sites such as money schemes and places that gives their users something for the amount of clicks or views which they amass. Not telling someone about a web comic they like. Come on guys, think before you tell people off...
I loved this comic while I read it, but after reading all of it (I think) I didn't keep an eye on updates. It's very funny, though~ Geek humor ftw~ Statistical voyeurism more so~
That rule isn't part of the TaC, which is what I refer to when I double check the rules.
Another mod would possibly have agreed with you and locked this saying that thing too, but after the initial 'check it out!' all that should happen is the thread turning into discussion about the thing.
In short - different mods interpret the rules slightly differently. I take them a bit more literally at times.
Well...sometimes we have to say things to make them so.
By way of discussion, I have it on authority of some unnamed sources that the time of xkcd is passing, despite the sheer magnitude of its social impact.
