no prizes for guessing who I will say

I think The Who are by far and away the best live band. They are widely held as such and famous for thei energetic performances. Their album "live at leeds" is a brilliant showcase of thei performances at the peak of their career. Their performance at the Rolling Stones rock 'n' roll circus caused the Stones to hide the footage for several decades instead of going forward with the project in ehich they were well and truely upstaged by The Whos showing of A quick one while he's away. One of The Who's most famous appearances it at the Monterey Pop Festival where they vied with Hendrix to put on the best show and show that they came up with auto-destuction first. There performance of My Generation shows this well.

Rammstein. No contest.

Awesome rocking German music, fire, fireworks, band members on fire, band members doing cartwheels whilst fireworks shoot from their feet AND still perform?

Count me in kthnx.

I think that AC/DC was an awesome live band and still is.
One of my favorite bands is Nirvana and they sounded great live, even though they were completely stoned.

I really like Gojira, but just don't see them as being a great live band to go see.

Then again, the best live show I've ever seen is Opeth, and they don't sound like they'd translate well into a live show either. They were extremely solid, sound-wise hitting every note just like on the albums. It was also the most comfortable show I've ever been to (had a lot of room, not too warm, good view) and Mikael interacted with the crowd a lot. Add bonus points for the thick Swedish accent!

Cradle of Filth was pretty solid too, had a lot of fun seeing them...

MMouse is either awesome or awful live. They sounded incredible live when doing Satellite Skin on Letterman

Flaming Lips. Confetti, a huge projector, fire, fireworks, laser light shows, and their singer's giant hamster ball. . .amazing how he can play guitar and sing in a giant hamster ball. He even rolls around in it.
