Well, do you say grace before you eat? I'm just a little curious, as most "Christian" families I know go to church but don't even say grace. So do you say grace? If you do, why? If you don't, why not? Do you think there's any use in saying grace instead of just going to church?

I find it a little weird to say grace, especially since I eat when I'm hungry, and only when I'm hungry. So it's like you're dangling delicious mouth watering food in my face and all I wanna do is eat it, I'm not gonna pray to god because I both don't beleive in him, and I don't really think praying about how delicious and ow much I wanna eat my food will help him get to me.

So what are your thoughts about saying grace?

...You know how many people ive met that say their christian for the most ridiculous and low reasons.

ex: Im a christian because i go to church

Im a christian because im baptized

Im a christian because i pray

You cant just do that!
Yes, i pray and try to remember when i eat, because god gave you the food and you should be thankful

Hate to make a debate, but I beleive it was the ground he created that made it. it's like worshiping mary for bringing baby jesus. I mean, if I was a farmer maybe I'd be praying while toiling the soil, but otherwise that doesn't seem to... good to me.

MAry, did S#it. She carried jesus, and did nothing. She gave birth to him, and then did nothing.

But i don't. I belive in jesus (or I thnik I do at least) But why should i thank him for food? People are starving, and It's not my fault my fmaily has omeny to buy it with.

The way I see it, you might as well go ahead and believe in God. If there is one, and you believe in, your fine. If there isn't one and you believed in him, then you just feel embarrassed but aren't screwed.

If you DON'T believe in God, and he turns out to be real, you're screwed.

Pascal's Wager?

I used to say grace occasionally but have stopped now. I think the practical show of me enjoying food would be better than saying it then eating. Though of course technically since I don;t believe in God at all now I don;t say grace because for me it is pointless I might as well ask Mr. Magpie for good luck. Basically I agree with what thoad said. I just want to eat.

I think for some people it's tradition. Like my family. We say grace, even though we have a wide range of religious beleifs.

A blessing before the meal is what me and my family do.

Not a hassle at all.

Pascal's Wager?

Bah pixie...Pascal's Wager was...well certainly weird and hard to fault really. He took care of any exposed flanks that could be criticised.

Chinese by race. And brought up with a Confucian Moral system deeply rooted in my personality. So, I usually say ' Baba Mama chi', roughly translated as 'Father, Mother eat'. Just a way to show my filial piety.

I don't pray a lot but i do believe in the things of being a christian. Even though i'm not fully or maybe even barely a christian. When i would go to my grandparents (When i was younger). We would all stand up and have some recite a lengthy praise.
