Well I just finished the game with my Psychological character and defeated the Corruptor.
I am very disappointed with the weapons and equipment that drop in Zone and 7. Especially Zone 7. Yes the equipment in the shop is good and I did replace most of my gear with the Zone 7 shop gear.
But after that, none of the drops in any of the battles in Zone 7 was worth using. That disappointed me.
In addition, there were barely any weapons in Zone 6 and 7. In Zone 7 I only saw 1 weapon drop, which was Flame Katana. Is that the only weapon drop on Zone 7?
I often read here on the forum, whenever people asked "What's the best weapon.. People would reply that it's the zone 7 stuff that is the best. I now don't understand that answer.
To this point, my Psycho char as well as Veradux, have not replaced there Wrath of the Council weapon (which in my view is the best weapon in the game for a Phychological player.
Roald is the only exception using Temporal Blade from Zone 6.
I can see maybe a Speed Bio char using the Flame Katana. But otherwise Zone 7 and weapons , and even equipment , is a huge disappointment.

Yes. it is the only weapon drop.

The only other equipment that is good is the Combat Medic suit from the Doctor.

Ok, so then I ask you, in all honesty.. am I the only one that feels a bit let down with Zone 6 and 7? This is not an attack on the game, or to cause a flame war. I'm simply expressing my feelings towards the 2 zones. It was after all quite a challenge to get to the corruptor.
I guess I was just really let down with the drops themselves. Especially in Zone 7.
In my opinion the two biggest mistakes made in Zone 7, was that the best gear was given right away (as you arrive at zone 7) in the shop. After that it was anti-climatic. Perhaps due to my own expectations. Everytime I got past on Encouter in Zone 7 and collected the loot, I anxiously compared it to my gear, Roalds, Veradux and Felicity's gear.. only to be let down in that it was not as good as the Shop's gear. This went on right to the end and inlcuding the gear from the Corruptor.
The 2nd thing was the lack of weapons as I've already mentioned. Not only no weapons in Zone 7 shop, but only 1 weapon drop in all of Zone 7 which I found no use for.
Again my expectations set me up for expecting this awesome weapon to drop and replace my Wrath of the Council with.
Ah well. I am thankful however that they worked on this and even bothered to release a Zone 6 and 7.. Which is why I'm trying for this to come across (not some much as a complain), but more just my feelings and how I guess I had different expectations when it came to the gear and weapons in Zone 6 and 7.
I hope at the very least this can all be taken as constructive criticism.
Zone 7 is similar to the Zone 4 from Sonny 1. However, they only put one shop instead of 2, screwed up the Guardian Set (the best in Sonny 1) and removed many weapons and shields. There is a plus side though. They give players equipment instead to just trophies.
BumperBo: Well lets compare then. Maybe this will shed some light one way or the other. I say that because maybe I was not gearing Veradux, Roald or Felicity properly.
Let me start off by listing the final gear dropped by the Corruptor. When I say "..to all Piercings" below I mean "Physical, Ice, Lightning, Shadow, Poison"
-Boots: Corrupted Shoes: +81 to all Piercing's -Leggings: Corrupted Leggings: +113 to all Piercing's. -Gloves : Corrupted Gloves: +81 to all Piercing's. -Bodywear: Corrupted Armor: +113 to all Piercing's. -Headwear: Corrupted Helm: +113 to all Piercing's.
So by wearing the complete Corruptor's set, your gaining a complete total of +501 to all Piercing's.
So lets compare to my chars. First up: Sonny..I was using a Electric Psychological build. My final gear was:
-Boots: Cryptic Greaves: Spd +9, Inst +42, Str +9, Vit +26 -Leggings: Cryptic Legplates: Spd +12, Inst +59, Str +12, Vit +36 -Gloves: Hallowed Gloves: Spd +7, Inst +55, Vit +7 -Bodywear: Cryptic Armor: Spd +12, Inst +71, Str +12, Vit +24 -Headware: Cryptic Helm: Spd +12, Inst +71, Str +12, Vit +24 -Weapon: Wrath of the Council: Inst +152, Ice , Lightning and poison piercing each +81.
The only stat that's really important to me is Instinct. That current set I'm wearing (including the weapon) gives me: +450 Instinct. Not to mention all the extra health from the vit.
With the full Corruptor's gear on I'd have +582 to lightning piercing but I'd lose 430 instinct. Plus all the Vit.
So I don't see how that could even be considered. I'd never find a good use to wearing the Corruptor's gear.
It's essentially the same argument for my NPC's. I basically have Veradux in the exact same gear as me, including weapon.
For Roald. I have geared him in pure Str and Vit .. So wearing this set would cause him to lose all his Str and vit . Not worth it at all. That's roughly +430 of Str from his current build.
Now even Felicity who is arguably a Bio speed build char.. wouldn't benifit either. Yes the +501 to Pyshcical piercing from wearing the Corruptor's armor would be great.. But not at the expense of roughly +430 speed and again the +vit too.
No I don't see it. I'd love to hear examples of how you feel it would work. But as how I understand the way the stats work here. I don't see how any build could honestly wear that set of the zone 7 Shop gear.
Which bring me back to my original statement of the letdown / anti-climatic feel of Zone 7.
RPG's are all about risk vs reward. The entire game did an amazing job as almost every new battle offered the chance at better gear. The risk vs reward factor kicking in. It's what drives people forward. That and achievements I guess too.
I apologize for the double post.. but I made a mistake in one my sentences in my previous post. (No edit function). It's an important enough sentence that I felt I needed to correct it.
Above I wrote near the end: "I don't see how any build could honestly wear that set of the zone 7 Shop gear. "
That should have read as follows "I don't see how any build could honestly wear the set off the corruptor compared to the zone 7 shop gear."
I will not open my big mouth in the future until I have tested it out myself. I was going by what I beleived to be true on paper but not in practice!!!
For the fun of it (since I did KEEP corruptor's armor), I replaced my gear with it. Again I have a lightning psychological build character.
So I started off by using Wrath Form, followed by Psychopath form, then attacked the corruptor with Shock Therapy. I one shot him with over 85k damage.
With my other gear ie: mainly zone 7 shop gear. My highest hit on him was 9k. So 9000 vs 85,000. That's just WOW.
So I apologize for this entire thread. The lesson to be learned here is to test things before you speak.
I've been trying the Corruptor's armor again. As before against the corruptor himself..
.. and I CANNOT duplicate that one shot hit. I've about 5 fights against him. It has not happened again.
So with the Corruptor's full armor gear on, I am getting 7k to 8k crit averages. BUT with very low Hit points due to all the Vit I lost.
I cannot understand where that 85k hit came from. I have to guess that it was a complete fluke , and perhaps even a bug. Since I can't duplicate it at all.
Because of this, I have to go back to my previous statments before my apology post above.. ie: That I am back to my original feeling again. (This time having tested it). The lost of all the Vit that I had using the Zone 7 shop is more important than I ever thought as well.
Unless someone can explain to me what that 85k one shot hit I did came from, and why I can't do it again after several attempts .
You are foregiven again. It is possible that the Perfect Design and the Flawed Design are on the Corruptor. Take for example, mine has a high hit which is actually caused by a bug. Normal damage hit is 37,875.
On that note then, it had nothing to do with me wearing the Corruptor's gear. It was just pure coincidence and luck that the first first hit I tried (while testing the corruptor's gear) gave me that hit.
So then, this is a throw back to BumperBo. See my post above where I compare my Zone 7 shop gear to full Corruptor's set. Since we are back to that how I cannot see anyone using the corruptor's gear.
