The world doesn't end in 2012. But I think the earth will end. 1. Alain attack :P 2. Nuclear war 3. Metreors (They are bigger than the U.S.A.) 4. The Sun will die (it would be could and nothing will be alive)
1. This should be in the section about political events and religion. 2. There are literally billions of these threads. 4. Come up with a reason for 3 5. Check back to notice that there is no 3
1. Armageddon 2. Pandemic of Smallpox Flat (shorter incubation period than Ebola and is the only disease to have a survival rate of less than .05%) 3. Meteor/Asteroid Strike (simple enough) 4. "Grey Goo" (we build nanites that begin eating the earth's carbon and turning it into more of themselves 5. Sentient Robots (I, Robot; Terminator; etc) 6. Nuclear War (because no one other than North Korea is stupid enough and if they take one wrong step, their entire country becomes radioactive glass...) 7. Gamma Ray Burst (too close a supernovae rips the atmosphere right off a planet...) 8. Quasar Sweep (the things are interstellar lasers... Don't get hit...) 9. Aliens (they'd just leave us alone...) 10. Black Hole nearby (no explanation necessary...) 11. Neutron Star-Solar Collision (would cause the sun to go nova... Which is of course bad...) 12. Sun dying of old age (eventually it would happen, but by then, we would be dead or long gone and the rulers of the Virgo Supercluster (includes Virgo, Andromeda, Milky Way galaxies, and a few thousand others) --. Global Warming (wouldn't kill us, we'd just adapt... We are sentient after all...)
Oh, and not necessarily... While there are quite a few of these, one could ask, "Aside from Armageddon taking place, how do you think the world could end?" That would take the religion part out of it...
Can't help you with how many times this has been brought up though...
