Well, here we are boys and girls, I felt that the original Battle of the Bands thread was slipping into modern rock, and I asked and got the "A-Okay" from XxLBJames23xX. So, without further ado, let us begin! First, some new ground rules:
1. I will be including some more little-known bands of the Classic Rock format, so I don't want anybody voting for one band just because they haven't heard anything by the other band. That's what YouTube is for.
2. Bands will win by either being the first to rack up 10 votes, or gaining a lead of at least 5 over the other band.
So without further ado, let the proceedings begin!
First match will be Creedence Clearwater Revival .VS. The Doors
I listened to Creedence Clearwater Revival a it on youtube and they sounded ok but ultimatley I have to go for The Doors. Kim Morrison is one of my favourite front men and they have some great songs in their doscography. Riders on the Storm is great very cool and I love The End especially at the start of Apocalypse Now.
Great thread chaotix it'll be good to have bands that are more my style on
Gotta love CCR, but The Doors get my vote. Their unique sound from usingthe bass keyboard and the uniqueness of Morrison's vioce is too friggin' awesome not to vote for. Also, who can't like songs like 'People are Strange,' 'Riders on the Storm,' and 'Break on Through?'
Ah, I'd definetly have to go with CCR. I just love their sound and they are always upbeat. I also like the singers (name?) raspy voice. In my opinion, the doors are just too laid back most of the time.
And steevo, I will definitely keep those bands in mind for the next round, but just to let you know, the band that wins this round will carry on into the next round, with only the loser being switched out.
I listened to both of them, and I had to go with CCR. I'm not a fan of either vocalists, but CCR had very well written and played music, while The Doors sounded more disorganized.
I would have to say CCR hands down, that and I can play several of CCR's songs on my bass guitar. I mean Morrison is pretty good but I think Fogerty has more recognizable/memorable vocals. That and CCR's "swamp rock" style is just plain awesome.
