I was being bothered by a fly, so I tried to pinch it with my fingers, and I got it. It is mushed and I believe dead. Was that bad, or should it not bother me, 'cause right now, it is bothering me.

Well, if you respect for life goes so deep in that you literally cannot harm a fly without feeling guilty - what about all of the plants or animals you're eating? They used to be alive too....

I wouldn't let it bother me. Flies do not make my list of things I deeply care about.

Don't let it bother you. HD makes a good point think of all the things you have eaten. If that does't bother you then killing a fly shouldn't.

I wouldn't worry about it. I agree with the latter posts.

I felt bad when I drowned a mozzie in the shower...

It's ok to feel bad about it. You didn't kill the things you eat, so it;s slightly different.

Actually, if the fly was dumb enough to get hit he deserved it.

Well they probably don't live that long because we mush them all the time.

It seems flies can live between 2-4 weeks in a house depending on the temperature, longer in warm climates. That would be without being killed.

All flys need to die. Thats why they rhyme.

I personally would feel horrible if I killed a mammal or reptile, but insects... nah.

I usually leave flies be, but those mozzies get dead real quick... does anyone else notice when you have mozzie spray on and your doing a sport they like to zip around in front of your eyes but never land?

Killing insects and rats is OK. Just don't kill them for fun.

It really shouldn't bother you. I mean after all you were trying to pinch it, and you didn't know you were actually going to kill it. I mean what are the chances that you'd hit it right away? They are very slim.

I mean on the other hand I'm not saying that you should'nt care because you really should care when you kill an animal, insect. But what I am trying to say is, it went into your territory and after you swung at it a couple of times (I'm betting) it continued to cuase a problem. So like the hunter, you attacked. It went down fighting.....sort of.

A hero in the sense? :|

Okay - Really, it's nothing to be ashamed of, if you are really bothered by getting fly blood on your fingers, I suggest you use "The Almighty Fly Spray" (Kills 99.99% of flies!)

Yeah... Its a FLY okay - the things that like to land on your food and rub their germy legs all over it to taste it, them start putting their long mouth lips over it.

The things that you have to scare away from your food.

Anyway if your too lazy to use Fly Spray get a automatic fly spray sprayer - I set mine to spray every 30 minutes I think. I ain't had a fly bug me since.
