Story Once the world was a peaceful place, no wars at all the people helped one another in daily chores and other things. Until the Darkwraiths arrived, They appear like humanoids with a dark hood covering their entire body. But that's what it seems, Once these hoods are taken off they become monsters of unspeakable horror, Only few live to tell the tale. Now we visit the events before this catastrophe had come...
"Come on! Wake up!" said an unknown voice, "Unghhh... a few more minutes..." the unknown figure screams "I SAID WAKE UP!!!" the figure sleeping gets startled and jumps out of bed and hits the stone cold floor, He gets up and says "Sheesh... You don't have to scream so loud Dirk!" Dirk says "You know how you are Paul you always wake up so late! Start getting used to waking up early! We still have work to do ya know..." Paul gets himself together and says "Wait, Did you say work?" Dirk picks up his Sword and Shield and responded "Yes, work we applied to join the hunt remember?" Paul gets dressed up, picks up his Sword and Shield, and they run towards the City Square...
Later that Day... The leader of the hunt says "Okay you squirts! Now all of you should know that the Hunters gather animal meat and their furs for the town, Correct?" All of them nod in synchronization, Once again the leader of the hunt speaks loudly, "Now I'm going to give you these teleportation scrolls, Use them if you encounter tough monsters these scrolls will teleport you randomly across town and when you do, We all meet at the square, Agreed?" All of the novice hunters nod, They all pick up their Swords and Shields and set off into the forest. Soon Paul and Dirk arrive. The leader shouts at them "Why are you two late?!" Paul responds, "Uhmm... Uh..." the leader interrupts and says, "Never mind that! Take these teleportation scrolls and go to the forest." Paul and Dirk nod and run towards the direction of the forest...
Chapter 1 - Into the Forest of Crandire Our heroes, Paul and Dirk manage to catch up with the rest of the group. One of them asks, "Hey! Paul, Dirk! Why are you guys so late?", Dirk responds, "It's not my fault, Paul always wakes up so late!", Paul angrily responds, "Hey don't put the blame on me! You always blame everything on me!", He starts to walk faster and also starts to murmur... Soon they reach their stop, The heart of the forest where the monsters thrive. Paul asks, "So uh... What do we do now?", one of the hunters responds, "What we always do hunt monsters of course." they wait for a few minutes, and a Fenris Wolf appears. The squad leader says, "Okay now... We gang up on that Fenris Wolf and skin it, Simple enough for you squirts to do?" Everybody nods including Paul and Dirk. They all jump on the Fenris Wolf but end up piling on each other, the Fenris Wolf squeezes through a small gap and runs further into the forest... The squad leader angrily says, "Darn it got away!", everybody else gets up and rubs the dirt off them... No sooner do they hear a fierce sound, one of the hunters says, "We should get out of here, that sound doesn't sound so nice and peaceful...", They all agree but no sooner does Paul wander off into the forest. The squad leader says, "What does that guy think he's doing? Come on let's get out of here...". They pull out their teleport scrolls and disappear into thin air. Dirk murmurs, "Why do i get dragged into these things?!", He then follows Paul into the forest...
Wow, Riou! A very nice and suspensful story. Can't wait to read the rest. But just one question. Why are Dirk's And Paul's names in bold? Just wondering.
They're names are in bold just to notify they are main characters, Well enough with that! Tiring to always put their names in bold...
Chapter 2 - The Celestial Ship Dirk bursts through the dense forest trees formed like barricades and says, "What the hell are you thinking Paul?!" then Dirk continues on and finds Paul looking down at a crater... Paul asks, "What do you think it is Dirk?" Dirk replies, "I dunno either! Let's just get out of here We'll get in trouble if we don't come back to town!". Paul argues with Dirk to stay and eventually convinces him... Dirk asks "So, what do we do now Paul?" he later notices Paul is not there and instead is descending the crater towards the weird large object... Dirk jumps down the crater and shouts "Stop clowning around Paul!!! Let's just get the hell out of here! I don't want to stay in this forest any longer." Dirk pulls on Paul's left arm but he won't budge. Paul says, "Stop tugging on my arm Dirk! Let's stay a while longer. Maybe something will come out of the ship?". Dirk is convinced that Paul's stubborn characteristic won't just give up, So Dirk stays with Paul... They wait a few minutes and then suddenly a door bursts open and black smoke pours out. Dirk shouts, "Come-on Paul! We shouldn't stay here any longer! Listen to me for a change!!!" But once again Dirk notices Paul is not next to him and instead, He is going into the ship... Dirk sighs, "Why do i even bother?!", He runs off into the ship and follows Paul they see many things like... Computers,transporters,TVs,broken robots... They had not seen anything like this in their Town yet. Paul asks, "Hey Dirk what do you think these thingamajigs are?" Dirk responds, "Well, do you expect me to know any better? I'm just as clueless as you are right now..." Paul says, "Let's go in further then!" Paul runs through a thick cloud of black smoke, and sees a teenage girl with blond hair, dressed in weird clothes... Paul shouts, "Hey Dirk! There's somebody in here!" Dirk bursts through the thick cloud of smoke just in time to see Paul almost make contact with the girl, Dirk shouts, "Stop Paul! We don't know who she is... For all we know she might be a spy from Aqualie" Paul responds, "Oh, Come on Dirk! Aqualie hasn't attacked us ever since a month ago!" Paul touches the girl and suddenly a huge monster with sharp fangs and claws, with a red and black fur appears out of thin air... It speaks to Paul and Dirk through their minds and says, "Leave at once or you will never see the light of day again..." Dirk says, "Wait a second... Red and black fur? able to speak through our minds..."

Who is this mysterious foe? Why do they ask Paul and Dirk to leave? Who is this mysterious girl? And what are these weird objects that Paul and Dirk found lying broken in the ship? Well find out in the next Chapter of... A World of Darkness
Dirk says, "I know now! He's Blackfang!" Paul responds, "Blackfang? He's Blackfang?!" Dirk nods, and then Blackfang comes closer and closer as if levitating. He once again speaks through their minds and says, "Ah... So you mortals know of me? With all due respect i am flattered... But leave at once or die before the paws of Blackfang!"
Blackfang let's loose a Sonic Howl that pierces through the air like a knife, It sends Paul and Dirk flying into a nearby wall, Paul murmurs, "Now it's personal!". Paul charges at Blackfang and slashes his left leg with his Sword, Blackfang let's loose a howl of pain that's ear shattering.
Dirk says, "Paul let's get out of here! We can't fight him! He's too powerful for us!" Paul responds, "Trust me Dirk i know we can beat him!" Paul stands his ground and tosses his Sword at Blackfang it pierces his skull, Blackfang let's loose another howl of pain that sends the Sword flying towards Paul, Paul ducks and is almost hit by his own Sword but is sent flying by the shockwave made by the Sword. Paul crashes through computers and lands in an empty room.
Dirk shouts, "How dare you do that to my friend!". Dirk runs towards Blackfang and slashes him repeatedly. Again Blackfang let's loose a howl of pain, Dirk sticks his Sword in a crack and remains standing. Paul regains consciousness and picks up his Sword, He runs towards Blackfang, He jumps onto his back. Immediately Paul spots a small gem, Paul's curiosity tells him to stab the gem so he does that! Paul lunges his Sword into the gem and the sword seeps into Blackfang's body!
Blackfang explodes and all that is left is a human body in-place of Blackfang... Paul asks the man, "Who are you?! What is all this?!" Paul almost chokes the man to death but Dirk stops him and says, "Stop it Paul! Let's give him a chance to explain", Paul loosens his grip and the man says, "This thing is called a ship, and all those other things are called computers,transporters,TVs, and robots. I am from... Well how can i explain this so it makes sense? Another planet..." Paul is awestruck and says, "Another planet?! That can't be... Your lying!"
But the man get's up and says, "I am not lying, Tell me have you ever seen these objects on your planet before?" Paul responds, "O-of course we ha--..." Dirk interrupts Paul and says, "What he means to say is No". The man says, "Now you see i am from another planet... I must go for if i stay any longer i will break the Intergalactic Pact's rules". The man pushes a button and he and the ship disappears. Leaving nothing but the teenage girl from before...
Paul says, "Oh yeah! We almost forgot about her..." Dirk says, "Don't you dare make contact with that girl..." Paul responds, "But look she's in really bad shape!". And Paul was right the girl had bruises, and scratches everywhere... Dirk says, "Fine fine fine! We can take her to the village..." Paul picks up the girl and carries her on his shoulders. They walk towards the village forgetting they have their teleport scrolls...
This is an interesting story. I like reading literature such as poetry, short stories, and smaller novels. This is a pretty good beginning, keep up the good work Riou.
Paul says, "Oh my god..." Dirk catches up and says, "What happe--..." His last words are interrupted by the flaming embers of their village. Paul and Dirk look around, they see nothing but destruction and pain. Weird looking people in dark hoods are killing everybody in-sight...
Paul says, "Who are these people?!" Paul starts to shake and chills are sent down his spine, Dirk replies, "W-well... How a-am i supposed to k-know?!". Paul noticed this had been the first time he had seen Dirk so afraid before Paul smacked Dirk in the face awakening his senses. Paul then says, "Get yourself together! First we need to find if there are any survivors!" then Dirk remembers and replies, "What about her?" Paul sees Dirk pointing at the girl they had found lying on the ship...
Paul responds, "Well... well... I don't know! We bring her with us then.", Dirk shouts, "We can't just bring her with us! Look at all this destruction! Plus she'll be a burden because she'll need our protection in-case one of those things attacks us!". Paul says, "Well we can't just leave her here now can't we?!". They keep on arguing until they hear screams...
Dirk says, "Enough of this! We'll just bring her with us then!", Dirk sets off towards the direction where the screams had come from, Paul follows him soon they find the source. The Chief is being eaten alive by one of the hooded-figures. Paul comes closer to the hooded figure and says, "Stop it!" He tugs on the hood and it flies off into the distance revealing the horrid flesh eating form of these monsters.
8 or 10 tentacles come out from it's horrible face it's face was pale white, It's eyes were color red with no life in them... Paul and Dirk jumped back and ran away. Dirk said, "There's no way we can fight those things! If they destroyed a village full of hunters, How are we supposed to beat them?!" Paul falls silent... Sooner or later they find the exit of the village and the 3 of them run off towards the forest...
