I prefer killing floor... It was a mod on UNreal tourny 2004, and now its a game on steam... It came out before left 4 dead, and if u looked at killing floor, you'd realize that L4d was just a crappier copy of this game.. Instead of trying to make it to a certain spot, you must survive waves upon waves of zombies. Which like L4D include some pretty weird ones. There is the Siren which screams and hurts eveyone around her when she screams, when u fire grenades or RPGs, they bounce off the scream. Then there is the Gorefast, which is very quick and has a knife at the end of one arm. The Chainsaw guy (lol dont know name) which looks like Jason with a chainsaw, the bloodrage which goes into rage and moves extra fast and does alot of damage. Then of course there are invis stalkers, fat guys who puke on you, and archmage (final wave boss)... I definately prefer this game, because instead of only 3 weapons and 5 different types of monsters (like on L4D), there is a whole range of weapons (crossbow, rifle, dual pistols and dual Deagles, RPGs, etc...) and a whole bunch of different types of enemies. Killing floor is 6 player co-op online and off line, as well as u can go solo. Depending on how many people, increases the spawn at the start of every wave. You can also wield doors shut to help keep the zombies out, or make them go different ways. Tons of different maps as well (instead of only 5)....
For zombie killing, Left 4 Dead, mainly for the co-op value of the game. For scariness, i would go with Silent Hill 2. That game gave me so many nightmares, and im a guy that doesnt scare easy.
i am about to get all nerdy on y'all... the newer resident evil games does not consist of zombies but humans infected with the t virus... so its not a zombie survival game but it's its' own genre... haha...
