Iâve been a huge fan of The Last Stand ever since it came out. When The Last Stand 2 came out, I was excited, because at the time I had been on a hiatus from flash games. Needless to say, both were incredibly awesome. So, this is a two in one review of both Last Stands. Also, if I may, I will make suggestions should there be a 3rd installment. So here we go.
The Last Stand Positives: The Last Stand is an incredible shooting game. I mean, shooting up zombies is the most fun thing you thing you could possibly do, other than ding dong ditching someoneâs house. Right off the bat, this game puts you in the mood for shooting zombies. The music is excellent, and this game has atmosphere. So, you start off with a pistol. Itâs the weakest weapon in the game, but makes up for that with its fast reloading speed. Throughout the game, youâll find more survivors who will help you in your mission to survive and powerful weapons. By the way, this game has a good variety of weapons, so if you are looking for a game with a lot of good weapons, then this game is for you. Be careful though, survivors can get lost searching for other survivors or weapons. Be sure to repair your barricade every other night, unless it is in dire straits. One more thing: I found the zombie in the clown costume hilarious. Negatives: One thing that annoyed me was that whenever I went to go search for more survivors or weapons, someone would always get lost. Hereâs a strange thing; that never happens in The Last Stand 2. Most of the weapons are effective, but the sawn-off shotgun was practically useless. Lastly, EVERYONE hates whenever the survivors run away like a bunch of pansies when the barricade collapses. You could use their help, seeing as how at that point, youâre the only one left. Another thing about the survivors; they donât really help much, but enough to get by. The Last Stand: 9/10
The Last Stand 2 Positives: The Last Stand 2 continues from the helicopter that rescued you in the first one. Apparently, there is an infected person on board, which causes a huge skirmish, ultimately ending with the copter crashing. It has the same eerie atmosphere as in the first one. The Last Stand 2 is way more complex than the first one. Right off the bat, you have runners (the zombies who run, duh) charging at you, the most annoying of which are the dogs, who can make the game more challenging, but add to the fun. This game is 10x more challenging than the first one. Now, zombies can carry weapons, which I will talk about in the negatives. You can only have 5 survivors this time around, instead of 7 in the last one, but this shouldnât matter, because you have been given the option of equipping survivors with weapons you discover (excluding grenades, the chainsaw, and compound bow). Itâs lasts 20 days longer than the first, unless of course you reach the extraction point before the fortieth day. The weapons in this game are AWESOME. I thought the Compound Bow was lame, but when I used it was effective. It turned out to be one of the more cool weapons of the game. The RPG and Grenade Launcher is a combo from hell, which when using these two weapons together, is exactly where youâll be sending these zombies. So to all of those who complained about the lack of weapons in the first one (which there really was no lack of weapons to begin with), here you go. There were also traps you could set up as well, so stop complaining. The A.I. is really helpful in this one, unlike THL1. Negatives: There are quite a few. Why can zombies run? I know there were runners in the first one, but they werenât that big of a problem, because your barricade was always maxed out at 100, and it took a while to collapse it. Thatâs not the case in TLS2, in one place, the full barricade health is 55! Running is not a characteristic of zombies. Some of the zombies have weapons, which can kill up to 2 survivors at once! That is so frustrating. Whatâs even more frustrating than zombies with weapons? Runner zombies with weapons. The survivors are still pansies and run away whenever the barricade is about to collapse. The new searching system is completely dumb and really inconvenient to the player. The chainsaw is worthless in this one. It takes forever to reload, and you only get 50 on it instead of the original 100 from TLS1. The final thing is that this game is really long for flash game, not that that is a bad thing, itâs just that if you donât reach Union City before the fortieth day, YOU LOSE. WTF? This game takes at least 30 minutes to beat. Sometimes it takes an hour if youâre a beginner. You waste all this time playing the game, and then youâre told you lost because you reached the extraction point a day or two late? That is not fair to the player.
The Last Stand 2: 8.9/10
Overall this is one of the most fun games on AG. Even if youâre not into shooters, you would enjoy this game. Con Artist is arguably the best developer on here.
Suggestions for the future: Please go back to the old searching system. The one in part 2 was a pain. Also, it would be nice to see how all of this started. Maybe a prequel? If not, then maybe The Last Stand3 could on a boat. If you beat TLS2 however(that means you got to Union City on time), it doesn't say that they ever got on a boat. It just says that the survivors reached Union City and nothing else. Hopefully there will be a 3rd one, because everyone is just dying to kill more zombies.
