Would you save someone close to you (mother, girlfriend, best friend, ect.)from death or would you save ten random people from death?

What about 100?

What about 1,000?

I'd probably save the family member before even 10,000 people because they are close to me and I probably woudn't be alive if it wasn't for them. And to me, If the random people die, how would it affect me?

Honestly, the world would probably perceive you as the biggest d-bag ever. I mean each of those 10k people have, at the very least, one loved one that cares deeply for them. Although, i would probably choose my loved one. Then again, i'm a borderline sociopath, i have no remorse.

What about the strangers loved ones? 1000 families would be devastated! And there are on average 3-4 people in 1 household so 3000-4000 people would be hurt. Thats not including grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins. So you could be looking at 10000 people affected by your disission.

*shrugs* They're not 'me & mine.'

Here is some more food for thought. What if there was is a third option being that you could save your loved one and the 1000 strangers in exchange for your own life.

Nope. Still just my loved ones & me. If I kill myself, that means that I'll be causing my family members harm, and that's not something I'm going to do.

In all honesty, I'd save 1000 people before a loved one, however I'd save a loved one before ten people.

I would shoot and kill three of the people in the 100 crowd, shove my dad, my mom, and my sister into the 1000 crowd, and save the 1000 crowd.

I would still save 997 people. Booyah.

That's a nice justification, but it does seem rather selfish...

I'd like to think that given the 3 way choice in which one was my own life I'd go with my life, but who knows how we would react in a situation like that? Ideally, I know what I'd do without hesitation, but when it actually comes to something like a gun to your head, logic disappears and base emotion takes over.

A good example of this is in the first 'Spiderman' movie.

greengoblin has a train thing filled with people and mary jane (spidermans girlfriend). Green Goblin lets go of both. Spiderman, jumps off the building and saves maryjane, then the train people.

I would save my family member and make sure not to look in the other peoples eyes. You do that, and they'll haunt you for ever. Unless your like me an show little remorse if you dont know them.
