But alternative and rock is turning into the same stuff too either bands sound like Fall Out Boy (Panic at the Disco sounds like them) or they have a real generic sound.
I agree, although there are some lights in the dark. Check out Cold War Kids, My Morning Jacket, also Julian Casablancas of The Strokes is coming out with a solo album soon that has promise. OOO and don't forget Arctic Monkeys, The Dodos, Band of Horses. And then for some cool sounding 60's throwback that is still original and extremely good, Fleet Foxes all the way...god i love fleet foxes. Oh and the Dead Weather, Jack Whites new band is pretty sweet too.
Popular music these days does suck. Take Kings of Leon for example. Now I like them, but, their last two albums which have been popular in the mainstream are their absolute worst. Listen to Aha Shake Heartbreak by them, and see the change that makes them popular by then listening to their latest album or the one before that called Because of the Times.
