Okay, I got this idea Darkroot, it's another club! That's right, another club so the mods can look it over for a purpose. Well, this club has a purpose, and that's to improve grammar throughout the site by our local, non-mod Grammar Nazis!
The leaders will be TSL3_needed (Me), Thisisnotanalt, Darkrooot, and Flipin3500.
It's not so much a club as just something to help people improve their grammar on the forums, games, and profiles. Membership is sort of unlimited and anyone can join, just as long as you pledge to improve your grammar and help others improve theirs.
The official guide for the club is here. Everyone, I hope you enjoy improving your grammar!
"I ain't going to the store" or "I am not going to the store" Which would you prefer people use, ain't or am not, aren't? Does it make you sound illiterate? Do you use it? Do you mind if people use it as a word, or does it bug you?
We not widely enough for word apparently. I don't think anyone with a job that sends document in word would use it. Life is the ultimate spell checker XD.
Technically "ain't" is a word. It was used in England a long time ago as a double contraction for "am not" and "are not". Until people started using it in the wrong way. They finally banned the word, and now it is considered improper. It's still right if you use it for "am not" or "are not".
Ok seriously, this club isn't here to discuss every grammar issue. I was pretty surprised when I came back less than twelve hours later than the thread was made and there were nine pages of posts.
Well, this club has a purpose, and that's to improve grammar throughout the site by our local, non-mod Grammar Nazis!
Hm. If this involves invading threads with:
(sic)
and then:
Fixed. You're welcome.
Then we will not be pleased. However:
True, but isn't the point of the club to improve grammar?
I do like this idea. If this is a club for people to join so that they, as members, can improve their own grammer, I certainly don't see anything wrong with that!
Then, through passive influence, you can affect ArmorGames' standards of grammar as a whole. I believe this would be a more effective approach than confronting non-members about their poor grammar.
