I highly suggest that you block off rated "M" games for kids, like if their account is under 17, then just let the screen say, "Sorry, but you are not eligible to play this game" Just a thought
I think this is an excellent idea! If they change there age, so what? They will still know that they aren't allowed to play it. Maybe you could just put little ratings in the left hand corner of the game screen that says "M" or "E" or "T" or something like that. Just a thought.
Yes, it is easy to simply change the age to something higher, but considering the amount of mature games there is actually is on this site (not that many), it is not really a problem. They usually have little to no graphic violence, no sex and so on, and the ones that might be more graphic seems to have a warning about it (Dark cut?).
There are to few games on the site that have a 'M' rating. Not to mention kids aren't as impressionable as you think, especially when things are unrealistic. So I'm pretty sure the Bunny Invasion: Easter Special won't phase them all that much.
I'm sorry but if they made it to where people could not play games under a certain age, then people just wouldn't sign up, or they would change their age, or if they take away the option of changing your age, and make it to where you have to sign up to play games then people just would go to other sites to play AG's games, and I don't think that would be very good for business. Honestly I already hate that they have age restrictions on Xbox Live(apparently to get the news and ESRB off their case) but if AG or Newgrounds started doing that(the only flash sites I go to) then...well I guess you could say it would be disappointing to say the least. A rating system would be alright if Dan starts allowing more graphic games on the site, though honestly he is the only one who gives the OK to let games on the site, and from what I can tell is a very strong Christian just looking at this quote from an interview with him:
I am a follower of Jesus and believe the bible in the Holy inspired word of God
Honestly that was really just to prove a point mostly, but what I am trying to say is that it is doubtful there will be much if any mature games on this site to worry about, and the ones are will most likely have warnings in them, though I can not say every one of them will.Though if there were a system like that then I would think it would be best suited to give warning concerning older games that have language(if even mild) in them, because even though that could be considered PG-13, there are those that can be offended by this, and complaints have been made in the past concerning them. Still another problem even if this went through would be to scan through each game and give it an appropriate rating, and since there are over a 1000 games if not much more(I once heard that the site had 3000 or something) so overall I really can not see a system like this working.
