You guys realize Dave Mustaine didn't play guitar on any Metallica albums right? He played on the demos and I doubt any of you have ever listened to them.

When Metallica was still taking its baby steps it had orginal members.

Dave Mustaine - Lead Guitarist, Backing vocals
Lars Ulrich - Drums
James hetfield - Rhythm guitarist, Vocals
Ron Mcgovnney - Bassist

But as time changed so did the band, Dave Mustaine HAD a big alcohol problem, so lars and james were pissed ands kicked him out he said,

"What no second chance?"

Although I am not a big Metallica fan,I do believe replacing Mustaine with Hammet was a good move for the group,and it eventually got them in the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame.

@ frylock they didn't replace him they fired him and were searching for someone.

Replacing is when you take someone IN (ACTIVE) the band and replace them with a member who wants to join.

Mustaine was OUT (inactive) of the band..

The band sucked with Dave Mustaine because they were new. HOWEVER, Mustaine is waaaay more talented and Megadeth is waaaay better than Metallica.
