You're on the luxury cruiser, the Gigantic,. You're enjoying the sea breeze when suddenly, it becomes instantly dark as storm clouds cover the part of ocean you're on. You're confused and the lively music and the busy chatter of other journey-people suddenly stop. You see, and then hear, lightning and thunder up ahead. The music starts up again, although slowly. The peoples chatter follow... You feel uneasy so you start heading back to your cabin... GRRRRRKKKKKKHHH.... You hear the ships structure groaning? You don't understand and now everybodies stopped... You feel really uncomfortable, but you wait outside to see what happens. Lightning suddenly hits the deck of the ship! Everybodies thrown off their feet! You thud down onto the floor, your vision-you can't see anything apart from a blinding white light! You can't feel or hear anything except the ringing of the thunder... You get up and slowly your vision and hearing come back. People are screaming and there are five people on the floor, not getting up. You try to keep calm and you feel the tilt of the ship changing. You keep your legs wide as you try to balance.
"Everybody into the life boats! Quickly! We think we're sinking!"
Everybodies scrambling for the lifeboats but you stay back, too shocked and weak to do anything.

A: i remember the indianapolis incident, where the navy sailors jumped overboard. Sharks were attracted to the sounds of the sinking ship. 12% of the sailors went down with the ship, or were sucked under. 36% were attacked by sharks. This is tropical zone right?

I head for the life boat

I'm gonna edit my choice:

C: i run towards an empty lifeboat, and release it before too many people get in; less people means less sharks are attracted to me

srry bout triple post. Heres the story:
---
At 14 minutes past midnight, on 30 July 1945, midway between Guam and Leyte Gulf, she was hit by two torpedoes out of six fired by the I-58, a Japanese submarine. The first blew away the bow, the second struck near midship on the starboard side adjacent to a fuel tank and a powder magazine. The resulting explosion split the ship to the keel, knocking out all electric power. Within minutes she went down rapidly by the bow, rolling to starboard.

Of the 1,196 aboard, about 900 made it into the water in the twelve minutes before she sank. Few life rafts were released. Most survivors wore the standard kapok life jacket. Shark attacks began with sunrise of the first day and continued until the men were physically removed from the water, almost five days later.

Delayed Rescue

Shortly after 11:00 A.M. of the fourth day, the survivors were accidentally discovered by LT. (jg) Wilbur C. Gwinn, piloting his PV-1 Ventura Bomber on routine antisubmarine patrol. Radioing his base at Peleiu, he alerted, "many men in the water". A PBY (seaplane) under the command of LT. R. Adrian Marks was dispatched to lend assistance and report. Enroute to the scene, Marks overflew the destroyer USS Cecil Doyle (DD-368), and alerted her captain, of the emergency. The captain of the Doyle, on his own authority, decided to divert to the scene.

Arriving hours ahead of the Doyle, Marks' crew began dropping rubber rafts and supplies. While so engaged, they observed men being attacked by sharks. Disregarding standing orders not to land at sea, Marks landed and began taxiing to pick up the stragglers and lone swimmers who were at greatest risk of shark attack. Learning the men were the crew of the Indianapolis, he radioed the news, requesting immediate assistance. The Doyle responded she was enroute.

As complete darkness fell, Marks waited for help to arrive, all the while continuing to seek out and pull nearly dead men from the water. When the plane's fuselage was full, survivors were tied to the wing with parachute cord. Marks and his crew rescued 56 men that day. The Cecil Doyle was the first vessel on the scene. Homing on Marks' PBY in total darkness, the Doyle halted to avoid killing or further injuring survivors, and began taking Marks' survivors aboard.

Disregarding the safety of his own vessel, the Doyle's captain pointed his largest searchlight into the night sky to serve as a beacon for other rescue vessels. This beacon was the first indication to most survivors, that their prayers had been answered. Help had at last arrived. Of the 900 who made it into the water, only 317 remained alive. After almost five days of constant shark attacks, starvation, terrible thirst, suffering from exposure and their wounds, the men of the Indianapolis were at last rescued from the sea.

Shocked Reaction

The impact of this unexpected disaster sent shock waves of hushed disbelief throughout Navy circles in the South Pacific. A public announcement of the loss of the Indianapolis was delayed for almost two weeks until August 15, thus insuring that it would be overshadowed in the news on the day when the Japanese surrender was announced by President Truman.

The Navy, however, was rushing to gather the facts and to determine who was responsible for the greatest sea disaster in its history . who, in effect, to blame. It was a faulty rush to judgment.

Evidence Withheld

It is important to note at the outset that vital information pertinent to determining responsibility for the loss of the Indianapolis was not made public until long after the subsequent court-martial and conviction of Captain McVay. U.S. intelligence using a top secret operation labeled ULTRA had broken the Japanese code and was aware that two Japanese submarines, including the I-58, were operating in the path of the Indianapolis.

This information was classified and not made available to either the court-martial board or to Captain McVay's defense counsel. It did not become known until the early 1990s that - despite knowledge of the danger in its path - naval authorities at Guam had sent the Indianapolis into harm's way without any warning, refusing her captain's request for a destroyer escort, and leading him to believe his route was safe.

Controversial Facts

Captain McVay's request for a destroyer escort was denied despite the fact that no capital ship lacking anti-submarine detection equipment, such as the Indianapolis, had made this transit across the Philippine Sea without an escort during the entire war.
Captain McVay was not told that shortly before his departure from Guam a Japanese submarine within range of his path had sunk a destroyer escort, the USS Underhill.
Shortly after the Indianapolis was sunk, naval intelligence decoded a message from the I-58 to its headquarters in Japan that it had sunk an American battleship along the route of the Indianapolis. The message was ignored.
Naval authorities then and now have maintained that the Indianapolis sank too quickly to send out a distress signal. A radioman aboard the Indianapolis testified at the September 1999 Senate hearing, however, that he watched the "needle jump" on the ship's transmitter, indicating that a distress signal was transmitted minutes before the ship sank, and sources at three separate locations have indicated that they were aware of a distress signal being received from the sinking ship. Its very likely that these distress signals were received but ignored as a Japanese trick to lure rescue vessels to the area.
Confusion on the part of Navy communications and a faulty directive caused the failure of the Indianapolis to arrive on schedule to go unnoticed, leaving as many as 900 men at the mercy of a shark-infested sea. (The faulty directive - which required only reporting the arrival of non-combatant ships - was corrected days after the Indianapolis survivors were discovered to require reporting the arrival of combatant ships as well.)

Errr thanks for that Mav-you've just made my forum game a whole lot more educational. I was actually thinking more along the liens of the Titanic since I learned like friggin loads about it during my English essay(s!). Btw Mav, your most recent post is SPAM! SPAMMER! SPAMMMMMERRRR! Nah I'm jkn but that was spam O_o

Btw, I think you'll find many jokes, interesting information and necessary information if you read other peoples scenarios too.

Skye
You're extremely dazed. You stumble around as the ship tilts a bit more... A man knocks into you and you both fall over. Since the ships gone so far, you both start falling! You both are going really fast and you knock over a few other people at the same time. You are coming to the safety rails! You try to grab onto something but you can't find anything. You glimpse the few men and women sliding down with you can an utter silence overcomes you as you fall through the air...
SPLOS-FLULUPPPPP
You feel the cold and darkness overtake you and you close your eyes, wishing for the best. You fade out...

LOL shark phobia man, I mean Mav
You go to the other side of the ship and jump into a near empty life boat. YOu shout at a pregnant woman to stop trying to bring more people on board the lifeboat, shouting something about Selachophobia (lol). You cut the ropes, too hurried to lower it down and you hit the water hard. Everyone falls off the life boat except for the pregnant woman. You help a 14 year old boy on, just below your age. You are drifting slowly away from the Gigantic when you feel a presence underneath your lifeboat. You scream "SHARK!" before you go under... You manage to kick yourself up and hold onto the lifeboat, being unable to get back on properly. You're teeth are knocking from both fear and cold and you pass out...

Papi
Scared of sharks, you stay still, looking around at the commotion around you. You start running about, looking for help. You see another boy about your age running to the other side of the ship. You run after him and jump onto his lifeboat whilst hes shouting at a pregnant woman. You all fall down and hit the water with a large bang. You fall off, but the boy helps you back on... You're scared but safe when something knocks your boat over. You black out but amazingly remain half on the boat. Your last thought is of a hot, warm beach...

Time
You literally jump onto a lifeboat which is already being lowered. Stupidly, you didn't realise it was already packed full and you land on top of three other men and women. You also cause the men lowering the boat to lose their grip, and you fall very quickly down onto the water. You are safe, for now, as you drift away from the wreckage, listening to the cries of help and silent sobs of the people close, and far away, from you. You fall asleep...

Everyone
You come to with a burning sensation all over your body. You get up and realise you're on some sort of beach! You scurry over to someone for help. The man, who looks like he's wearing captains clothes, tells you that we all mysteriously...suddenly found ourselves here. People are trying to slowly come to their senses and find food and shelter...
You walk around, helping where you can, setting up that piece of fabric on that makeshift tent etc. You also make notes in your notebook of everyone.

Survivors
Roger: The captain of the ship. Extremely helpful and kind, he's become sort of the leader of the survivors.
Skye: A cool-headed girl, looks about in her late teens. She's calm and focused and is eager to help other people.
Mav: Half-crazy, half-genius, Mav will do the calculations and map taking/making for any expedition.
Papi: 14 years old, he'll help where he can but he can sometimes be quite harsh if he's attacked or provoked.
Time: A mysterious young man, he has quite some muscles and will do the lifting and more labourous work for the benefit of the group.
Georgina: The pregnant woman, she looks as if she'll give birth at any second now and she's, to be honest, more of a nuisance than a help.
Catherine: A young woman, she's kind but sort of blonde. As in dumb blonde.
Aman: An Indian man. He seems harsh but he's very kind and helpful at heart.
Roderick: He cares for nothing but his own safety- no one seems to like helping him apart from himself.
Ethan: A mysterious man, in a rich luxurious suit, who seems to be more worried about his money rather than anything else.

You see behind you, on the beach, part of the remains of the Gigantic. You all help to scavenge any food, material or technology left.

Options:
A) Help make shelter with Roderick and Roger.
B) Look for food with Georgina and Aman.
C) Explore the area with Ethan and Catherine.
D) Rest
E) Other (within reason)
