I'm not sure if this has been said before, but oh well. Lock it if it needs to be, but please still give me an answer or a link to other threads like this.
I think instead of just adding friends you should have to invite them. The add friend button would say invite friend instead. Then on your profile, you have a Friend Invites button that, when clicked on, drops down a list of your friend invites. It would go where the invite friends button on other user's profiles is. But it would be on yours. And I heard that adding friends gtives you AP. Is that true?

And this has been suggested before, but I don't know where the thread is. So...
Personally I don't like this idea. If you consider someone a friend or just want them on your little list, add them. If you want them to add you too, ask them to. I don't see an issue with that system at all.
