I just got GIMP 2.6.6 and I never have had or used GIMP before. Can somebody give me instructions on how to use all of those effects right?
You might want to look through the "tutorials" thread, stickied up top. It contains several GIMP-related tips.Otherwise, if you haven't disabled them, read through as many of the opening tips as possible, those are handy.

It doesn't specifically, but the Tutorial Thread is a good place to ask for help.Mainly because it's a sticky, so your question doesn't get buried unanswered just because no GIMP-wizs were on when it was asked.And the opening tips are indeed very handy~
