First of all, I am also active along with Strop, Zoph and nemo. Another thing, you can help stop spam by flagging posts. It does more than you think it does. And plus, you would NOT be going around deleting spam. You'd do it for a week then stop. I know I did that for awhile and hell, maybe I'll go delete some now. But temp mods are just not in the question.
If we're aware of the emergency, why would we need backup? Unless you're talking about an emergency in real life for one of the mods. Well... That's why we have a team of mods and not just one or two. >_>
This idea has been hacked down before... We're constantly looking for potential new actual moderators, but the time just haven't been right yet.
