I think we all know Iran is (and has been for years) trying to destroy Isreal and America, people have been saying "Two more years," for years! My question is, will they really get to nuclear power? Or are they already there? Are they going to continue since they are pretty much imploding after they're new election?

I really dont think they will have the nukes to nuke us with in the next few and i really dont think they are stupid enough to do it if/when they have the ability.

I'm from VT so I already have the skiing and maple syrup, but the free health cares nice. Plus, its one of the least-violent country's in the world, always a bonus unless they're attacked, in which case the US would probably help seeing how its a national security thing if another country takes over Canada.
(They also have really nice hotel restaurants :P)

Iran's missile would be shot down by our defenses, and it would be glass within hours.

The US's missile defenses are incredible. I saw an episode of Futureweapons about them. We have three layers of defense - and they all three worked about 99% of the time when tested. And they're bing upgraded still.

Being a 'merican I dont know whats going as we are only told what is about us (I didnt even know there was a war between Russia and Japan before WWII until less then a year ago) but i do hear you guys have a much greater presence there then us though, plus your closer so even one of those crappy North Korean missiles could prully get there.
Anyway what is going on?

Americans only listen to what they are told now? Why not try out some independent research? How about using the internet to search for information? Radical I know, but hey, I guess I'm odd like that.

That's technically correct, but it was earlier than that, before WW1.

There are a few reasons we are being targeted more than the US.

1) Iran does not want to rule out a relationship with the US. However they do need a Western power to use as a propaganda scapegoat to blame the recent riots on. Thus they choose the UK.

2) The British have had a lot of clashes with Iran over the years; In the 50s we used British agents to help stage a coup to take down the then leader, as he was planning to nationalise an oil company in which British businessmen had large stakes in. More recently, they took captive some British Navy personnel, claiming they were unlawfully in Iranian waters. In short, we haven't had a friendly past.

3) The British embassy is in the centre of Iran. It is just more feasible for us to have been coordinating the rioters, as we have a much bigger presence in the capital.

4) Using our embassy as a base of operations, British intelligence agents have been collecting, and passing on information they have gathered on the Iranians to the US and Israel for quite some time now, which the Iranians have never been too pleased about.

Recently, the Iranians expelled 2 top British diplomats from the embassy in Iran. In response, we expelled 2 of theirs from the Iranian embassy in London. Today, they have arrested 2 more British officials and have claimed to have gotten confessions out of them stating they did indeed help plan and coordinate the riots. In short it's FUBAR.

Don't they already have some ties with the UK, trading or something like that?
Still, I agree with the scapegoat, I heard about the Iranian government claiming British embassy employees confessed to starting the protests. Complete bullshit.

Should read entire posts first :P
Still, Iran's propaganda is starting to spread to an extreme, I doubt they can keep it up anymore. Besides, I though embassy officials had diplomatic immunity and couldn't be arrested that easily?

Not that I know of. I'd be surprised if Iranian businesses were allowed to do so, then again, I could be wrong.

They pretty much have to keep the propaganda going. Most people aren;t persuaded by it mind. Just too afraid to actively resist.

They only have immunity on minor crimes, like parking tickets etc. In any case, Iran doesn't exactly play by the rules.

I hope it didn;t seem like I was implying all Americans were idiots. It just seemed that he used him being an American as an excuse for being ignorant, which I thought rather odd.

Go Iran!

I have nothing to say. Whatsoever.

Nice nice nice! Lol Anyone from Texas have a statement?

Yes I do. I personally think we should monitor the situation with the protesters. If protesters are there, terrorists often arise. If Iran has nukes, and they fall into the hands of terrorists, we can kiss at least a portion of Tehran goodbye.

I know, it's not the classic argument that the media would say we said, but it's my argument. Texans =/= Warmongers. If I took that correctly.
