Flags are used to well, flag comments that are spam or flames. It's a way to alert the mods to come and destroy such comments.

Don't use it to sabotage anyone though.

To sum up: Comments or posts that are flagged multiple times are sent to a database which the admins check regularly. They then delete the spam and inappropriate comments/posts.

So this thread is all well
