Oh, Pete. He's destroyed why to many guitars, but his ability (playing not destroying) was awesome.
I think he abuses his guitar playing ability.
Care to elaborate on that Frylock?
For any of the Eric Clapton and Mark Knopfler fans check on this video of Layla.
Arguably 2 of the best guitarist in the world playing to an unforgettable tune. Although I think it would have sounded better if Knopfler would have played on his Strat instead of his Pensa MKII Custom.
I've already said (twice) that Hendrix is the best. I'm not considering this guy one of the greats, but listen to some of Jim West's work. Links: Let Me Be Your Hog Genius In France
By abusing the guitar,I mean that on some of his songs,he plays his guitar in ways that drown out the meaning or tune of the song. Also,it drowns out his singing (not exactly a bad thing in some cases).

I've never really noticed that before, normally Kirk plays simple bar chords or power chords while James is singing. Hetfield is almost always the one playing the loudest. Especially when he plays lead.
Mkay here are my top 5 favorite guitarist...
1. Kirk Hammett(Metallica) 2. Mark Knopfler(Solo/Dire Straits) 3. Eric Clapton(Solo/Yardbirds/Cream) 4. Pete Townshend(The Who) 5. Jerry Cantrell(Solo/Alice In Chains)
Now he's a guitarist! He's really knew how to rock his B.C. Rich. His riffs were priceless with Death and his solos were unbeatable. Shame he died of cancer...
