Is there any possible way AG could maybe have something that says if your friends on or not. That would help with communication. If your friend logs in a conversation u know he's gone, so you not just talking to yourself. and it would be cool to see that. and under that there could be something that says what they are doing. like

This is a good idea, although you can find out if your friend is online by clicking his or her profile. This does make it easier, but I think it'll be hard to implement and lag this site down badly...
As Firetail said, lag would be a major problem. Another problem would be really complex to create and would be VERY glitchy. I can't even tell if their on with the button right now, because of the optimization. Keeping track of real time info requires to much server space that the just doesn't have at the moment.

Maybe you'd like to offer to donate some money so they could afford the better software?
They have lives too... Well, maybe AG is there lives but still... It would cost a lot to make an overhaul of the whole system...
lol!. well actually my step-dad works with trend micro. a software and other computer things... but still they could have er like a clearance sale for there merch. and add more shirts. cups other stuff but w/e don't matter just in the future it would be a good idea
Ignoring issues with lag and development in progress...
I think this might be a bit too complicated to be a good feature. Making the online/offline dot more useful would probably be better than attempting to make something that'd monitor users' specific activity.
Also, easier way of keeping track of your friends... Get some sort of IM program/account.
