i think the people who say Metallica sucks listen to 21st century Rap or Pop (disgusted face) or just haven't ever heard them and eez trollin
I also agree with Graham.
Or perhaps we won't settle for stock bar chords, and solos that consist of nothing but hammer-ons and pull-offs?
Besides chords, hammer-ons, pulls-offs, bar chords, and the basic strum what else is in a solo or guitar part? You're also forgetting about extremely high bends and almost impossible tremolo slides with hard pinch harmonics all combined with high speed. Try playing a few before you make such a simplistic comment.
Doesn't seem very Metal to me; sounds suburban and full of queer.
That was a very bold and outrageous statement. He's getting old I'm sure he can't help it how mellow his voice gets.

No. They were one of the first thrash bands to put out an actual full-length album (not the first), but their were plenty of other thrash bands putting demos out the same time they were, and before.
B) If they were mediocre they wouldn't have one grammies.
I said their thrash outputs were mediocre. They didn't win any Grammies until "Metallica (The Black Album)" which wasn't thrash metal.
Saying they were mediocre thrash was kinda harsh. I'll admit when they played thrash, they were a good band.
C) The latter half of the 90s were hard rock. St. Anger is in a class of crappy on its own. Death Magnetic is kicking up the pace. Next album will go back to Ride the Lightning and Master of Puppets.
I seriously doubt they'll go back to their roots. They're the kind of band that jumps on the bandwagon of whatever genre of music is popular, and thrash isn't popular.
