i highly recomend for a team is a mage a archer and u can choose between a warior or a barbarion and u can choose between another mage or whatever the last thing too be is on the list i forget
Tip: If you have a Conjurer, have less people on your team Tip: Put your toughest characters, like Warriors or Clerics, in the front, where they will absorb most of the damage Tip: Super Bosses only come rarely, so don't sell the items you get from them for a long time Tip: When the enemy summons something, killing the person that summoned them won't do any good Tip: Kill the Acolytes first(on Planes levels), before they have a chance to sacrifice themselves for something more dangerous, which they will do on their first turn Tip: If there is an enemy who is very low on health but still alive, use a multi-attack spell like Electric Storm or Hail of Arrows. That way, you don't waste your turn on them. Tip: At the Emporium, try to buy something you want without having to sell what it's replacing. That way, when you see what it is, if you don't like it you still have your original item Tip: Never sell Emporium Teleport scrolls! They're rare, and they prevent you from having to drop stuff that could've been valuable.
The shop is eventually useless IMHO, thats why I play attrition.
If you are able to clean everything including the legendary monsters, items are so plentiful that going to the shop is utter waste of time. Kill everything, grab what you need, discard useless items and move on instead.
I'm not very keen on the conjuror; I do prefer the mage much more. The warrior is a good team player (his buffs make him good for Fall of Tellunos), but the rogue is capable of more damage with a good dagger. I think the most indispensable class is the ranger, though. The most versatile character in terms of ability set.
Warrior - absorbs damage and deals damage. Front line. Cleric - heals the whole team. 'nuff said. Ranger - Behind the warrior. Shoots long range, especially with the hail of arrows. Conjuror - damage, summon monsters, as well as revives cleric if he falls.
Ranger is the most powerful character if equipped right, but they are also the most fragile glass cannon to the extreme.
I have no real solution to save the rangers when facing Gorgon. Well actually there are two: Resistance potion, or retreat the rangers early. Equip high poison items on mage, even the mage alone can pin in great poison damage that will dispatch a gorgon rather quickly.
Temporary becomes permanent - You get 2 potions that permanently boost 2 stats. It's either 2 potions that increase strength and endurance, or a strength + endurance potion and a dexterity + intelligence potion, or possibly 2 dexterity + intelligence.
Mundane becomes extraordinary - You may want to keep the COMMON (white border) items just for these. This shrine turns one common item into one unique item of the same type. (for example, a sword will become any unique that is also a sword.) I was a beta tester and I didn't know what these did back then!
Thanks for the second one, I never would have thought it worked that way, though I can live without it lol...
There is a third type of magical shine called "A Magical Gift" which gives a unique orb that can be used on any item, so far I've found 4 types:
Enhancement: All item effects increase by 10% Resistance: Gives 30% resistance to stun and poison Power: Gives +2 power regeneration (pretty useless) Repenishment: Recover +20% health and power after each battle
The Enhancement orb deserve to be mentioned as it is one of the greatest item in the game. It's effect always round-up, therefore turning anti-race items into highly insane 200% anti-race modifier.
Here is a pic of me using Anoint to buff my mage (that has an Orcs Bane +Enhancement equipped) and then cast a electric storm, effectively doing 350% normal damage, almost decimated the entire opposing party in one shot!
