I used to play Travian (both the strategy version where you just point, click and wait and the other version which was a live action one) but like destinydude I just got tired of it. Just found it boring... I wonder what's happened to my dudes... LOL!
I played, quitted and decided not to touch that game ever again because the game is insane. I've reached extreme levels with the Gauls, at some point I had 19k sword + 14k Theutates Thunder that destroyed a Natar in one hit.
Things go highly ridiculous when you have -60k crop per hour, can't really go offine for more then 12 hours.
Months of non-stop production, only one barracks, stable + great stable. The highest cheque I had was more then 2 months (even people in my ally called that cheque insane) in both the barracks and stable, and 60hour+ queue in the great stable. TT is such a good raider that my farms covered a radius of at least 80 squares. Tired to send over 30 attacks every 12 hours, though.
I've seen Teutons having 200k crop offensive armies, so my puny 60k crop army was actually not too much of a big deal.
That one hit I made on the Natars:
I don't think it's feasible to do such things in speed servers (else you will have to online 24/7 to send your crops). Well, over 95% of the people playing the game didn't get passed the newbie stage anyway.
That was way before "main village" was ever introduced. It's easier to produce greater armies now but still you will have to pass over -50k crop to be any good.
