I am a looking for a good book to read over the summer. I am a 16 year old boy so please no girly or children books. I prefer fictional books, but I can keep my mind open to new ideas. I don't care if it is a long book. If you want to share a good book you read please comment.
A classic would be Lord of the Rings. (seriously if u didn't read it, u are missing a lot in the art of literature). And a good book i read: Ten Little Niggers by Agatha Christie, really good book.
It's actually kind of boring...the author should have put a lot more thought into it.
Actually, The Bible has 66 books in it... To which are you referring to as "fictional"? Also, which author do you mean should have put more thought into it?
To answer UrbanKing's original question though... Try the Abhorsen Trilogy - start with "Sabriel". The books are written by Garth Nix. If you like fantasy, this one is a good one for young adults.

a good book would have to be pretty much anything by stephen king or james patterson. but if you want their best books, i'd have to say Along Came a Spider by James Patterson (the first in the series of Alex Cross, not the best) or 'salem's Lot by Stephen King.
I have a good book I've read a bunch of times, and it's one of my favorites, by James Patterson. It's called Hatchet I don't know why I like that book so much.
Did anyone read Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell by Susanna Clarke?
It's the story, in the 19yh century england, of a magician, Mr Norrell, who tries to restorate the magic in GB... It's a huge book, almost 1000 pages, there's not a lot of action at the beginning, but it's totally blowing, the way she tells the story, she describes the sets, it's amazing! It's quite hard to get into it, but once you're in, you just cazn't escape!
OMG you can't compare! No, really, you definitely can't comprae both. HP is a good book though, I loved it, and I still read it with pleasure, but Strange&Norrell is something higher. I really don't know how to express it in English, so I'll just say that Hp is a great book, but for teenagers mostly (eventhough lots of adults reads it!), and Strange&Norrell is one of the fantasy books that you read and you know thats it's top quality, if I can tell it like that, that it will be one of the greatest book of the decade, maybe more! It's hard to get into it, because the beginning is slow, without action, but it's so original!!So powerfull!!
I don't want to recommend a book that everyone is going to suggest, like Harry Potter or Eragon, so I'll suggest these:
The Bartimaeus Trilogy: The Amulet Of Samarkand by Jonathan Stroud The Golem's Eye by Jonathan Stroud Ptolemy's Gate by Jonathan Stroud
Synopsis(no spoilers): In a Revolution-era London, magicians summon demons to do their bidding, while people with no magic are treated as knaves. The snarky demon Bartimaeus, the aspiring magician Nathaniel, and the revenge-hungry commoner Kitty, all their stories twist together into one amazing trilogy.
Enchantress From The Stars by Silvia Engdahl
Synopsis(no spoilers): In a futuristic time and planet, people from the Academy are sent off to save less civilized planets, but when an Academy trainee sneaks onboard a ship heading for a a medieval planet under siege by modern-day folk, she finds herself caught between romance, and duty, as well as an ever-present danger.
Percy Jackson And The Olympians: The Lightning Thief The Sea Of Monsters The Titan's Curse The Battle Of The Labyrinth The Last Olympian
Follow a hilarious teenager, as he discovers that he is not normal; he's the son of a mortal woman and a god. Soon afterwards, he is attacked by monsters including the Furies and the Minotaur, and is brought to a safe haven: Camp Half-Blood, where demigods(half-mortal half-god) are trained and protected. But all is not safe, as old gods resurface, and betrayal lies within.
I would say Misery by Stephen King, if you like Stephen King books you shouldbe abel to get through this in a day or two. It's good because it gets straight into without introduction. Which means you piece all the basics of the characters together as you read it. It's very suspensful too.
My other reccomendation is The Godfather. It's a brilliant book. It's a little bit violent in parts but everything you're reading is 100% accurate and it really gives good insight into a criminals way of thinking.
