I was once on a forum that had a minimum amount of characters you were allowed to use in a single post. I think it was ten or fifteen characters, if you had any less it would not allow you to make the post. I think this would cut down on the amount of spam and short 1-3 word posts. So, what do you think?
Not really. Spammers would just do stuff like this. ex: dhjsjtgsgjmxfgjsfgjsh That's definitely not going to work.
Sorry, i wasn't really thinking that they would do stuff like that.. I guess there really is no surefire way to stop stop spammers, as they will always find a way around it..
Of course spammers would find ways around it, by just saying random things, but you would still just flag them as you do now. I'm not saying it would completely get rid of spam, but I'm sure it would decrease it a tad, and make people put more thought into their posts.
There's no stopping spammers. They're the cockroaches of the web (but you can't squish them). But it would certainly cut down on one-word posts by new members who don't know they need to post seven or more words (Unless it serves a specific purpose), or even just laziness.
I created a thread about this quite some time ago. I fought back and forth about it for a while until the thread eventually just died :/
I still think it's a great idea and I think it's one of the few suggestions that AG needs to consider. The spamming random characters would be flagged much quicker than a 1 word post does currently. It would make users to actually think of what to type instead of saying, "This." or "lol"
