The year is 2105. The world is over ran by zombies. The infection started in China, got everyone there, then to the middle east, getting 75% of the population of that area, all others are hidden.
Now, you're wondering how it gets to the Americas. These Zombies remember things they learned while human, if eating enough. You, and a group of survivors are getting to an Air force base to go to the safest place, England. On the way, however, you are bitten on yur arm. You have a choice, become a zombie, or amputate the arm. Both have positives.
Amputation means you eventually get a cybernetic arm, and for enough money, you can upgrade it with things like Grapple Hook, Grenade Launcher, and many other things. You go on with out an arm for a fourth of the game.
Turning means you start as a brainless drone but, the more people you eat, you gain evolution points for 'remembering' certain things, making you able to speak again, use weapons, and drive vehicles. Though your weaker than you would be as a human.
Everyone is making great zombie games so I'll just throw in a game mechanic, not an actual plot or anything. I have always wanted to control a squad in a zombie game because it is always the lone super human gunman. Having a squad to command would add an untouched dimension, you would have to split up resources with your squad members like ammo and healing. Over the course of the game you might find survivors and force them to help you out, you might even feel sad when you lose a member.
The alien crash landing, suggested by valkyrie, is great. Having the alien influence on it just adds to the intrigue.
Also, while a zombie, you could have a choice to find your origins, this means finding the alien craft. Note, the game starts in China, so you will have to either boat, or fly a plane there. Flight will take a toll on your evolution points, but also giving you access to powerful items.
5 is an average game. Anything below is worse, anything above is better.
Just wanted to say: Your rating system isn't the only one. Sure, you can claim it makes sense, but by that logic, 5.5 would be average. Using five as the average is just as arcane as using what I use: seven. (I use seven because my rating scale is much more objective than most. More on that if anyone cares.)
So, onto the topic at hand: How did the world become overrun with zombies? How did they "get" everyone in China?
