I think chess is funner. It requires you to think a lot, it doesn't take too long, and it is a head-to-head battle. Unless you have a four player chess game like me.
On the back is a regular board to play with just 2 people

Those are rooks buddy, and I say chess is better, I enjoy a good game of thinking and learning from other players. Checkers there are several tricks that are to be learned, but chess there are several more and so many things that are possible its quite entertaining!
I like both. Chess involves being able to think a few moves ahead and come up with strategies, but then again so does checkers, but on a much more "simple" level. However to not just sit on the fence I'll go with chess.
I am not good at many things, but chess is something I can actually say I'm better than average at. Checkers doesn't involve as much skill, and I find it to be rather bland.
