Not importance, despite him not being real and I can't remember the last time he actually helped, except what? 2,000 years ago? No, no direct intervention since that long ago, if he were that "
erfect" he would quite easily help, really.
And I know this sounds terrible and is usually not trusted, but it has caused a little more bad than good, the holocaust - Jews are a race and judaism is a religion, it's part of them and Hitler hated it.
Terrorist attacks today, they commit suicide for their "god" in the hopes of a beautiful afterlife, causing death to many more people. Truely disgusting.
The Hundred Years War - morale was simply boosted by religious talk after a 100 year long war for people who were become king of france, it was between 3 people. And the King is supposedly "chosen by God" to lead the people, so you could see why people would be willing to fight.
Now, POPULARITY is a whole other question. Society is heavily based upon religion and is one of the core aspects of our beginning. It is often confronted on TV for jokes, discussions and whilst not shown directly, is reflected by actions taken by people (aka, terrorists). Halo, whilst always directly confronted by people, has not touched close to it, there are alot of believers that are so bound to their faith, whilst there are barely (if any) people like that in the world of Halo (which is really a
good thing :P )
Anyway, this is subject for a flame war (which I am slightly a part of but I WAS NOT flaming) and really shouldn't have made such a topic despite the humour inflicted onto me when I read it
