I am unsure if the Spartans lived during the Middle Ages.

My favorite Medieval soldiers include the longbowman and knight. Especially the heavily armored mounted knights. They kick ***!

The word medieval alone is referred to Europe in the Middle Ages, after rising out of the Dark Ages. The feudal ere in Japan was taking place around the same time as the Middle Ages but ended in the 19th century, with the Meiji Restoration.

Oh, what the heck. Samurais existed in the 1300's. Though you can't call them medieval.
