Alright I have a question for all of you.

Do you think that how mature you are mentally and emotionally is decided on your physical age? Personally I think age is a generalzation for how mature you are and not everyone falls under that.

not everyone does but i would say that a large, large majority falls under the catagory- maturity with age....
imagine it like a video games... you dont reach level 10000 until you have so much experience

On the site I moderated on, there was no age limit, and there was a lot more spam. See a correlation yet?

I'm one of the few people here with a mental age about half of my real age. :P

Maturity is decided by the brain, the brain is part of the body, and age tells how old the body is.

I don't think maturity has anything to do with age. You could have a great 12 year old who does everything you say and is great to talk to, and you also have a snotty 14 year old who does nothing you say, WHO IS MORE MATURE?

The 14-year-old is more assertive, which, in a way, is more mature than the kissass 12-year-old.

Well it depends on whether you're talking mature physically or mentally. I'm assuming you mean mentally though.

Let's first think about what "maturity level" really is. If someone acts very mature, they act very much like a fully grown human being. So what if society's fully grown adults act like the 14 year old? He's the more mature one from what you've told us. Maybe he doesn't do anything you say because he doesn't believe you're right though. His being snotty and disobeying could be him standing up for what's right. While the 12 year old just wants to please everyone, like Ernie pointed out.

Also, you can't base someones mental maturity level on one act or trait. The human mind is very complex.

Maturity is decided by the brain, the brain is part of the body, and age tells how old the body is.

Probably a bit confusing. Just saying that age tells how mature the brain is physically, which determines how it functions.

Probably a bit confusing.

Right on target! Anyway, maybe someone can be mature in some ways and immature in others.

Age is stupid.

I've shown myself through my almost 5,000 posts that I'm at least a somewhat mature person, if I'm allowed to evaluate myself - and I'm younger than most of the people om the site, or at least the forums. Most kids are dumb as sh*t, but generalizations based on irreverent figures like age are invalid no matter how you slice 'em.

And I'm an adult, but I'm not too bright in the head for my age. It just shows...

I think maturity is governed by experiance in life usually that would mean an adult is more mature then a teenager but sometimes people either learn from experiances quickly or dont learn from them at all. I asked this because I look and act years older but when people find out my actual age some treat me different then they did before they knew. It seemed to me my physical age mattered more then the age I acted.

So I ask this which is more important to you? Personally I think how they act is more important

Maturity cannot be measured merely by age. Though age is a good general guideline to follow.

As for my maturity and my age, you shall never know! Hahaha!
