Does this belong in the world events section?
I don't know.

Anyways, how do you think mankind will die out?
Apocalypse?
Zombies?
Aliens?
Food Shortage?
Global Warming?
Water shortage?
Overpopulation?
Lack of air?
Or do you think mankind will survive through all these?

And approximately what year do you think this will happen?

If we manage to avoid nuclear war, and somehow obtain the technology to inhabit another planet to escape overpopulation. The world will ultimately end, whether it is by the sun going into supernova in (4 million or 4 billion years, I forget).
There is no way to escape death or to avoid it, the universe is constantly expanding and there is no doubt that some planet in the massive area of space will create lifeforms just as Earth has.
We can only prolong how long we will last.
Personally, I think it will be either by nuclear war or superintelligent robotic computers.
Both man made.

Global Warming?

Maybe, or we will all die in a big big war. Around year 3000?

Yeah.

The concern is not that we would run out of water. We are worried about the depletion of freshwater. We wouldn't die without freshwater, but that would put immense strain on countries.

Apocalypse?

Depends on what apocalypse? If you are talking about the 2012 speculation, then I cannot be sure.

Zombies?

As of now, it does not seem that zombies could cause our extinction. It doesn't seem zombies exist.

Aliens?

They could if they were more advanced than us. So far, none have come.

Food Shortage?

That is very threatening but mankind could survive through that. Many would die as a result though.

Global Warming?

At this rate, the continuance of global warming can cause us to go extinct. Extinction from global warming will take a while.

Water shortage?

That could end us but it is likely that there would be survivors. Since humans mostly used the 1% of water which is freshwater found underground, in lakes, rivers etc., if sufficient water could be provided from desalination, then things would be more favorable.

Overpopulation?

That worries me. This won't end us. The effects of it can.

Lack of air?

Well if global warming intensified enough, this could be possible. Though the nearest time frame of that occurring to me, is over a century from now.

Or do you think mankind will survive through all these?

Maybe. Just maybe.

Other ways I can think of the end of mankind ending include gamma-ray bursts, nuclear warfare, asteroid impact, comet impact, supervolcano eruption and a freak pandemic.

Dude i thought of that and that would suck, cause that would mean that the entire world would be skrewed.

Intersting topic Firetail. I don't really know if it will happen. Maybe. Probably not though.

Apocalypse?

Are you talking about 2012? No. That won't happen. Highly unlikely. Even thought the Mayan's where very smart astronomers. The Apocalypse as described in the Bible? Even though me being a Christain, I Kinda doubt that too. I mean, god wouldn't do something like that to his people. Hell is bad enough. And I think the earth will do like any planet and die on its own.

Zombies?

Really? Have you been reading to much Zombie Survival Guide and such books? This is still quite unlikely. And if zombies ever did start to attempt to take over the world, We would be able to handle them with our advanced technology.

Aliens?

Even though I do have some alien conspiracies, I still doubt they will take over the Earth. That is if they are even real. So no. This isn't possible either.

Food Shortage?

Even though this is an evedent problem today, it isn't too large. America, and the rest of the world for that matter, does consume a lot of our food resources a year, we should be able to live through it. We are making progress still and if this does happen, well it will happen at such a slow rate that it would be barely noticable until we run out. So, maybe, this is plausible.

Global Warming?

Well, it is obvious that this is a growing problem, and is very serious. But we are working on reducing Carbon Polloution already. If it does increase like it has been over the past years, yes us humans are quite in trouble. But I do see solution in the future for this. So again, this is a quite plausible thing.

Water shortage?

Yes, this is a very intersting theory. I mean, considering that only less than 2% of the water in the whole world is Fresh water, and we are running out because of pollution to our lakes and oceans making water dirty beyond repair. I can might see this one happening, but our water filtering process is getting very thourough, and precise, thus making even badly polluted and dirty water fresh as can be. So I can see this as a maybe, but more thanlikely not.

Overpopulation?

Haha, yes. I can agree on this one with you. Our poulation incresease by like, if I am not mistaken, around 200,000 people a day. Minus the deaths. So yes, we are overpopulating the Earth, over using our resources. Killing ourselfs one by one, do to loss of resources, then we wouldn't be able to go back. So yes, this is a very, highly likely thing.

Lack of air?

Well, with the increase in carbon pollution, this might be, but we can handle it. And I don't see this happening in the future.

Or do you think mankind will survive through all these?

Maybe, just maybe. It is obvious that Humans can survive through a lot. Ice age, world wars, ect, ect. Just to name a few. So maybe.

And approximately what year do you think this will happen?

Well, if it does happen, this will be many years after our lifetime. So next few centuries from now maybe. So if it does happen, all I am saying is that it would Man forced. We are pushing ourselfs to our own doom.

And you forgot something.

Astroids?

Astroids seem to be a very likely. And NASA has said they have predicted astriods coming near enough to Earth to maybe hit it. But they said that we are working technology to fix this, but will be far off into the future.

Though you shouldn't forget desalinization/desalination.

Last time I read, the population in the world increased sixty-four million in one year. The resource shortage due to overpopulation is very likely, unless balance is restored somehow.

Probably in a number of decades, technology will be availabe.

Ahh, can't believe I forgot about that. But it isn't the most perfected thing in the world.

Hmm, balance would be nice. But it would take a long time to do that. If it was somehow possible.

Probably in a number of decades, technology will be availabe.

Maybe about 50 - 60 years. They are planning on making a magnet that will repel a certain material in most astriods. If I am not mistaken.

Why can't we be like this? We are just discussing the possibility of the world ending. And I do take the most out of my life. But that doesn't mean I can't have a conversation about the mankind coming to an end.

I do not know if this is Global Warming but, I just think that the sun will become a Red Giant and explode and kill everyone.

1. The sun will not become a red giant.
2. It cannot explode.
3. Why do you think that?

1. Yes it can, it is a star.
2. Yes it can, it is a star.
3. Because I am smart.

Well, no you're not.

The sun will not become a red giant.

He said it won't become, and you answer, it can.

I don't know if you realize the grammatical error, but what the heck, you're smart.

In my opinion, mankind will die when the sun stops "existing".

We can't live without light.

Yes it will. Eventually...

2. It cannot explode.

Yes it will. After it becomes a white dwarf.
