Everyone look it up, tell me what you think, and I'll retort to the best of my abilities. It proves capitalism was never needed.

It's interesting, and cool that it was able to be successful, however it's not nearly up to date with current cities. Is socialism worth living 50 years in the past, technologically?

I researched it, and agree with green. also, capitalism was needed if you think about it. when the country was first made we were in huge debt, and got out of it with some great ideas by alexander hamilton. He used typical capitalism.

A tourist trap proves capitalism was never needed? That's a stretch.

As for your statement 'never needed'....

We 'could' give up modern medicine & science too and live like the Amish.

Irrigation systems, space travel, entertainment or global communication aren't 'needed' either. This doesn't really prove anything.

Well sure it was, but when Robert Owen waddled into town he made New Lanark run very well and kept all the citizens happy (without being a psychotic cult leader). Thanks to Owen and his "scientific socialism", New Lanark became the envy of European economists despite the fact that Owenism contradicted a lot of right wing ways of thought at the time.
