Ok I've been noticing more and more new games are being created WITHOUT UPGRADES for the player...........personally I think that's stupid because upgrades are the thing that gives games a point. Why are these game creators just making games without UGs? Do they want people to play their games and rate them high or not? Just my thoughts.
thats actually a good point, i find some games are good withought upgrades(sorta:ex phage wars 1) and when a game with upgrades comes out its usually alot betta(ex: phage wars 2)
Its the first time i thought of it but usually my favorite games are ones that have stats income and etc that varies
This is pretty true. upgrades, lvling up, buildings(in some games) really make a difference like dieath pointed out. good point hopefully developers will take this into conslideration.
So you want all games to have upgrades? That's a pretty bad idea in my opinion. Upgrades are good in SOME types of games, such as RPG's. However, it would be preposterous to put upgrades in other types of games.
Just think, why would you need an upgrade system in a game such as *this is the only level*
His point is that games WITH upgrades are better than those without, and I agree with him, upgrades give you more control on any given game and also allow for a more increased difficulty or even different play modes while maintaining a different aspect on the game, plus new ways to play it if you took a different upgrade path or different skill set.
is upgrade complete not making fun of the fact that people think that all games should have upgrades? a bit like achievement unlocked?
Game with upgrades tend to be less about skill and balancing and more about knowing what to buy, which is why they are popular, because games that dont need skill can be played and won by anyone.
There nothing wrong with them, but i wouldnt want every game to have them, in fact I feel like too many games rely on them to make games feel bigger than they are and therefore spend less time on stuff like level design.
