There's barely any threads on this underrated, fun puzzle RPG, so I figured I'd start one up.
One achievement I'm having trouble getting is the "beat the game without getting hit" one, and I'm also trying to get the "do not use magic" achievement as well in the same run, but it doesn't seem you can get one or the other without skipping either. The reason for this, I believe, is because of the first boss, the Orc General, and the Final Boss. The first has an arrow attack that can hit you regardless of where you are, so you need to find a way to kill his bodyguards quickly (without using magic), and then kill them all in one shot. The final boss' horizontal beam attack seems to span the whole field, so unless you use the 180-degree flip spell, it's hard to set up an attack on it without getting hit.
I was ultimately going for a no magic/kills/damage/AP deplete/shop use run, but it seems quite difficult since you need one or more things to get the others, thus nullifying the run...Any advice here?
Just focus on one at a time, i mean youve probably beatten the game enough times already, eh? As far as advice... You seem to have already brought up the key points yourself, if you havent already put them into action over the last three weeks.
What I want to know is, does the game save the achievements you've earned in a run through the game? It's completely impossible to get ALL the achievements in one go, no matter how skilled you are, since some of them are mutually exclusive (e.g. "Buy 1 of every item on the shop" & "Don't buy anything from the shop". So obviously the only way to get all achievements is to play the game many times through, getting different achievements in different runs. Otherwise this games basically fails at the purpose of achievements (by not allowing a player to earn them all. at all.)
I haven't yet beat the game (I'm at the last boss & found a glitch that has be stuck), so I don't know if it saves only after you win. I played once before & got some, but when I came back into the game today all the achievements were blank.
(I was gonna start a new thread to ask about the aforementioned glitch, but I'm guessing it's more appropriate per forum rules to post it in this thread.)
Ok here's what happened while I was fighting the last boss. After drilling the actual boss 4 or 5 times, I was at a point where there were a bunch of those green oblong orbs (the ones you need to kill all of on the board to get the boss to show himself), and I used a scroll to turn them all into chickens. I actually picked up the scroll earlier in that level, so I thought "maybe they put those scrolls here because *that*'s the strategy!"
So I turned the boss-orbs into chickens then killed them one-by one, and then... nothing.
I didn't win. Kept removing blocks & moving around, but no more enemies or doors or anything appeared. I'm out of AP & I'll run out of HP soon.
There's a "Boss health bar" at the bottom of the screen, indicating I was most of the way through to killing him, but using the Chicken Scroll has made that impossible. I'll try removing blocks until it kills me then retry the stage, but it's an annoying glitch that other people should take care to avoid.
